BlackBerry 8830 "Cyclone" peeped with Verizon branding

As mentioned a few days ago, Verizon Wireless seems to be prepping for the release of a new dual band version of the venerable Blackberry 8800, christened the 8830. With this handy bit of tech you will be able to use CDMA radio while in the States (and maybe Canada?) and switch over to that good old fashioned GSM love while abroad. The pic above clearly shows the 8830 in silver, while the images in our last article seem to show it in black. No other solid info is available, but you can be sure we will be updating as the news and details trickle in.

i think you meant dual mode CDMA/GSM, not dual band. while it probably is dual band, so is almost every other phone - gsm or cdma
Only for Verizon? I may have to switch carriers again!
Im using the 8800 for cingular... Its such an awesome device.
Looks exactly like the 8800 for cingular.
No matter how good these Blackberrys are, I wish that they'd step their design game up. Against all these Asian companies, the same form factor for over 4 years just shouldn't cut it.
Don't forget about the BlackBerry 8100 (Pearl). The thing is absolutely amazing and it's the smaller form factor.
Smaller, yes. But circa 2004 small. I'm not saying that I want a SLVR, but I would like to see another type of form factor, maybe a qwerty slider?
Add a camera on this thing and i am game. I love my 8307e, but I WANT need a camera add on, and no I don't want no skinny pearl either, where is the love RIM?
I'm assuming you hae an 8703e and not an 8307e. I believe that the upcoming 8300 series is reported to have a camera.
And no slider keyboards!! no need to mess with a design that just works. I wouldn't want my beloved BB falling apart like some of the junk devices that run Windows mobile.
Amen brother.
I'll second that, Di.
Blackberry's form factor works, and it works WELL. And it's worked for however long it's been in play. It's sleek enough to keep up with the times, professional and it just plain works. I've had too many bad issues with sliders and them being prone to collapsing and turning the screens on/off accidentally- all kinds of - for lack of a better word - bull.
RIM knows that functionality and design can be merged without sacrificing the real purpose of the device.
Now when's this baby coming to Sprint!?
Chris
Anyone got a guess for a data release ?
I sure hope it's soon, and with a camera on it.
I just hope that this is a pure Blackberry & Verizon doesn't install it's own junk software to ruin it, like they did with the Treo.
Does anyone know if this new one is text messaging enabled?
