Lego dock provides home to full assortment of handhelds
It doesn't get much better than when the Lego bricks of our youth meet our gadget stash of today, and while we've seen Lego docks for various devices before, Chris C built himself an all-in-one unit to house his 8525, iPod and DS Lite in plastic digs. We've gotta hand it to Chris for mixing an indie Lego-hacker ethic with three of the most stereotypical devices of their respective categories, but let's hope that iPod's running Linux, the DS has a DS-Xtreme cart in it, and he's got some sort of snazzier Windows Mobile Today Screen for his 8525 -- live the dream, Chris!

Good Friday = slow day for Engadget?
And what the hell is with all the lego "mods" over the past couple weeks... i honestly don't see what is so impressive about building a box out of legos and gluing an iPod dock inside it.

anonymouspimp must be jealous... it's always easier to b!tch than actually make something.

LOL, what are you talking about man... when I was 10 I had a pretty sweet lego setup... I WISH i had time for stuff like this now... but alas, there are burgers to make and urinals to clean. And not necessarily in that order. And I'm not telling you where I work.
But anyways, I'm sorry I'm not impressed with your sweet lego charger. Put some LEDs on it and try again.
jason @ Apr 6th 2007 4:02PM
uh... it's not mine. i'm not keen on winblows mobile devices.
...and maybe if you did a better job on the urinals, you'd have a little more free time. (oh, and you clean them before, it's what makes those burgers so minty fresh...)

Photo 6 of 8 (DSC_0008.JPG) reveals that some of the Lego bricks were modded (e.g. drilled). So while it may be more aesthetic than the previous dock, it's less "pure".

@anonymouspimp
So your posting to show that you are proud of your McJob? Personally I think it would be great to have a cradle to charge all my electronics and the lego DIY factor is a nice touch. Beats paying whatever a third party would want.

"So your posting to show that you are proud of your McJob?"
Yup, that's how a true anonymouspimp rolls. Chicks dig a guy in uniform. And you have no idea what kind of action you get when you smell like french fries all day.
Ding fries are done... ding fries are done...
Hey! maybe if I get rid of my spatula and mop, make lego replacements for them, and glue an mp3 player to it Engadget will make an article about it. Hell yeah!

Me neither! Chris is your last name childers??? And are you from Sac, CA?

I swear I think I know this kid... And he was kinda geeky and probably would think a lego dock or whatever was cool.
akbar56 @ Apr 6th 2007 4:40PM
I did something similar. Made a dock for my rabbit corkscrew and foil cutter.

No mods at all. Pure lego gadget storage bliss.
ben_r_ @ Apr 6th 2007 4:50PM
lol, why did you do this?
Akbar Fazil @ Apr 6th 2007 4:56PM
The stand that came with my corkscrew broke and I was always misplacing the foil cutter so I got creative :)

Anybody who thinks this isn't cool, I feel sorry for ya. This is mad cool. And it'll give me something to do this weekend with all my spare legos! BTW - I'm almost 40, married 15 years with 3 kids, so actually being cool means nothing to me anymore.

I loved legos back in school. I even got the space shuttle legos for christmas, or was it my birthday, regardless, making things is the best. even if you think the dock is lame, at least he can say he made something that you did not. haters

Well either Engadget is plagiarizing or someone is plagiarizing Engadget. Look at this
