Rolling Stone Bill Wyman introduces...a signature metal detector?
While Keith Richards may or may not still be trying to up the shock ante as of late, another Stone seems to have settled into a considerably more laid-back lifestyle. Apparently a metal detecting enthusiast for years, former bassist Bill Wyman now looks to be trying to turn his passion into a bit of profit, coming out with his own signature metal detector. While we're not sure how it compares to other non-rock legend endorsed models, £125 ($245) doesn't seem to be too unreasonable a price to pay for a few extra bragging rights among your metal detecting buddies (even if the signature doesn't turn out to be authentic). Just don't get too down on yourself when the chorus of "You Can't Always Get What You Want" kicks in after you've spent all day roaming the beach with nothing to show but a few bottle caps.[Via TRFJ]

Uh... Well sounds fun?
Is it blue? Could have been a different color at least...

Depressing.

I guess the Rolling Stones are still trying to figure out where "Steel Wheels" went wrong. Regardless, I had the strange sensation of wanting to buy one of these. If Engadget really needs a hands-on review, I'd be down.

This should be great for searching for change in the creases of Keith Richard's face. What's next-- Charlie Watts branded adult diapers?

A friend of a friend who lived somewhere outside a small English town told me about how someone called him, claiming to be on behalf of Bill Wyman and asking if they knew the long-term history of the land he lived on. He said that Wyman was quite well recognized as an amatuer archeologist and was interested in doing some surveying. (This was several years ago - maybe even fifteen years ago) Out of curiosity, he gave his ascent, and a few days later, there was Wyman - with a metal detector - out behind the house scanning the ground. He eventually went out and talked to him, and quickly realized that it was Wyman himself he had been on the phone with - not someone who "represented" him. He said he found it odd, and a little sad, but I thought it was quite great. This is the guy's hobby after all.

He should have painted it black.
