Although the Wiimote (and the SIXAXIS, under certain conditions) already enjoy the luxuries that tilting can bring, it looks like those sticking with Microsoft's console will now be able to get in on fun as well. Thanks to a partnership with "specialist peripheral makers" Talismoon, the highly-regarded tiltBoard is reportedly getting an commercial makeover as it readies itself for "mass production." Details are admittedly scant right now, but the forthcoming product -- "which will bring tilt sensitivity for the Xbox 360 to the masses" -- is said to be "worth the wait" from its presumably jovial creator. And if you can't visualize just how spiffy it'd be to control your 360 titles without touching the analog or D-pad, be sure to click on through to see what the tiltBoard can do for you.
God no. I have a 360 and I don't want any of this crap. It's a huge PS3 gimmick tossed in to "compete" with the Wii. It doesn't work well, and it feels lame trying to play games like this. Unless they're going to go "all in" like Nintendo did, this will be nothing more than a waste of time and money. God damn gimmicks.
I really don't get this roll call phenomenon where a poster claims that he is first and so on. Is that really an accomplishment to be proud of? What does it say about people who gloat over such seemingly trivial feats?
What I don't understand is why people post stupid comments like a couple earlier posts. This site is for new tech, I think this qualifies. You don't want it then don't get it / don't use it. Man I hate stupid people.
"Although the Wiimote (and the SIXAXIS, under certain conditions) already enjoy the luxuries that tilting can bring"
What, exactly, does that mean? Sixaxis under certain conditions? Can anyone explain "certain conditions"? You mean like during high-tide only? or when the full moon is out? AFAIK the sixaxis enjoys the luxuries of tilting all the time.
I know that my SIXAXIS only works when Pluto is aligned behind the third moon or Jupiter. When that rolls around, I get the luxury of a working PS3 controller.
And I turn into sexy man beast who gets lusted after by cute girls. True story.
Microsoft proberly owns (or has a big share in) Talismoon...
MS cant sell these officaly under the Xbox brand, because they would be called copy-cats by Sony and Nintendo fans, so they will be helping Talismoon get these "modded" controllers out on the market...
DUDE.....cant wait!!! w00t!
Although - no offical agreement means no games designed for tilt!! :(
If this is smoothly integrated, could you still make a rational argument /against/ the 360 being the best console of all time? I don't think so.
The only remaining issues would be failure rates (I had a defective one, but it was replacd quickly and free of charge) and no HDMI (for now). I suppose you could say that it's shooter-heavy (wait, you could definitely say that), though that's a big plus in my book.
It's either peopel cannot read or comprehension is not their skill. This in no way has anything to do with Microsoft but a 3rd party company willing to sell the creation of a modder. What does that have to do with Microsoft supporting tilt?
This looks like a prank. Take a look at your 360 controller, and then where the supposed upgrade is attached... Where are the connection points for the new circuit board?
am I the only one realized that, because the motion sensor is tied to the D-pad/joystick, it would work ALL THE TIME, meaning if your are in the game menu, and you tilt your controller slightly, you will accidentally make the wrong selection.
not to be biased or anything, but PS3/Wii controller use motion sensor IN ADDITION to its joystick/buttons, which enhances the gaming experience, this won't do the same.
first of all it fake he probably had another controller in his hand doing all the steering and for that piece where he pressed da button to turn it on he prbably had another 360 he may have borrow from a friend or something
This will be great for motorcycle games like MotoGP. Microsoft used to offer a gaming pad for the PC (called the Freestyle I believe, and this was the ultimate controller for the game Superbike. You could lean the controller forward and back for gas/breaking, and left/right for turning. This provided a more intuitive control for mototrcycle games
Wait a minute. The 360 has Rumble, you can't have Motion control at the same time according to SONY! Not that I like Motion control as it's not Accurate and you end up crashing/Dieing a lot.
I could see using this with halo to look side to side quickly, especially while driving a Warthog or spraying bullets. Will we be able to tilt front to back also, so I can look up and down?

While it wasn't a very good driving demo, I can see how this could be very useful for driving games, especially for slightly more adept gamers.

Have you SEEN the life accomplishments of those who proclaim "W00t! First post!!!" ?!?
That's all they've got in their lives! I say let 'em have their moment in the sun. It's the least we can do.

Couldn't somebody behind him be doing the actual controlling? The "tilt" doesn't seem very responsive or accurate.
BIll @ Apr 6th 2007 10:05AM
See, that's the thing. It probably isn't very responsive or accurate to begin with. :P
