Epoq goes small with latest portable media player
Epoq isn't exactly the most well-known name when it comes to portable media players, but it looks to be doing its best to impress with its latest device, keeping things small while still packing in some decent specs. Up front and center is the player's relatively large 2.4-inch QVGA display, which fills up most of the face of the device and should make watching AVIs at least somewhat bearable (albeit at a max 25 fps). Other specs include your choice of 1 or 2GB of storage, with a miniSD slot for further expansion, as well as with an integrated FM radio, voice recorder, and a sure-to-be-booming built-in speaker. If that does it for ya, you can snag the 1GB player now for $100, or drop $40 more for the 2GB version.[Via Ubergizmo]

It kind of looks like a portable cassette player, with those buttons on the side... but smaller, of course. Considerably smaller.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Zune, but if this little thing has all this plus an FM radio and recorder, (besides the hard drive) Whats with the bulk Microsoft?
zune? you love? why?
I saw some Korean chick using one of these on the subway in NYC the other day... and I know she was Korean because she was watching a Korean game show.
I got a good long look at it, because it was just kind of odd to see this Asian girl on an NYC subway train watching a cheesy game show on what is clearly an advanced piece of electronics not actually available at retail in the United States. It's also REALLY small in person. So I was kind of transfixed for a little while.
I'm not sure it was under the brand name "Epoq" but it was definitely this device.
The screen was actually really good, and I saw no jerkiness to the video or anything. The viewing angle was pretty outrageous; she had the thing nearly perpendicular to me and I was still reading the text graphics the show had pretty clearly. (Well, not reading them - I don't speak Korean - but seeing them, anyway.)
25 FPS is more than viewable. PAL television is shot at 24 fps and no one would say British tv looks like a flip book.

This thing ain't new, it's just rebranded by 'Epoq'.
