Rare NES kiosk goes up for auction
Those looking for something slightly rarer than a Virtual Boy to add to their Nintendo collection may want to head over to eBay before it's too late, where this rare in-store NES kiosk is currently up for auction. While the stylin' TV set in the picture above unfortunately isn't included, the game console itself should be enough to impress any NIntendo fan that pays the lucky winner a visit, with twelve selectable cartridge slots available to load up with your choice of games (none are included). Just don't expect to bring this home on the cheap -- last we checked the bidding was topping $600 with two days left to go.[Via Crave]

Imagine having to open that box up to blow into the cartridge everytime the game acted up.
That would be a pretty cool thing to have tho...

There would not be any need for blowing. The carts are always left plugged in.

I'll just wait for Ben Heckendorn to make a portable version.

That's awesome, but you'd always have a time limit to play (30 sec, 3 min, 6 min, 128 min). You couldn't pause Ninja Gaiden III overnight with this, but it would rock for parties.

I had one of these, didn't work very well, but it was cool. I can't remember the games it came with (yes, mine was already loaded up)It was a long time ago and I ended up taking out the games and.... wait for it... throwing it away! as I moved on to a Genesis

Thanks for bringing back fond memories of riding my bike up to Nichols every day with some friends to play games on one of these until an employee would chase us away. There was only enough time to get to level 1-2 in Super Mario Brothers before the game reset, but darn, it was fun.

I just read the auction, I had forgotten the timer. I'd like to replace that "it was cool" thing with "oooo, it made me so mad!".
Jamie @ Apr 11th 2007 5:25PM
Why is Super Mario Bros pictured on the TV buy not in the cartridge slot?
Mykalson @ Apr 11th 2007 5:33PM
@Jamie:
Yeah, I noticed that too. There doesn't appear to be a Super Mario Bros. cartridge in the machine! This is rather fishy. Until I saw that, I was thinking very seriously about bidding. Maybe it is broken. Heh, that would suck.
Chris @ Apr 11th 2007 7:09PM
There is a super mario bros cart in the machine, look at the pictures. Top left slot.
RaDd @ Apr 11th 2007 7:56PM
I remember seeing one of these things!!!!
I want this! @ Apr 11th 2007 8:22PM
Um, Chris, the cart is Mario Bros. The game is Super Mario Bros.
hoax!!!!!!!

whoever wins this needs to part and measure it out and give us all instructions on how to build exact replicas

haha, I have that TV...it's pretty cool it has a visor thing that comes forward to make it look like an astronaut helmet. Never the less I mainly stick to my 30" HDTV.
