According to Bryan Schnieder of TampaHDTV.com, FIOS in Tampa FL has added three new channels to their HD lineup. It is safe to assume that FIOS customers everywhere can expect the same three channels soon. Once again a provider adds new channels without any announcement at all and on Saturday the Food Network HD showed up on channel 840, HGTV HD on channel 841 and Lifetime Movie HD on channel 845. Of all the HD channels available today not currently carried by your provider, these are probably the most sought after. Once again Verizon keeps the heat on their competitor, in an attempt to lure customers away from their current provider.
Why aren't they here in Manhattan NYC? Time Warner has these commercial saying how "cable brought competion into the market" and "why competition is good for consumers" yet they have been lobbying and paying top officials or whoever is in charge so that they can keep Fios out of Manhattan NYC while still charging us unfair prices and internet speeds of up to 7MB while Fios people in New Jersey can get 20MB for less.
I live in Staten Island NYC, and have a 20MB connection. It's really fast, but the tv won't be here till like december. It's hard to do in manhattan, because of all the stuff that's going on. They also used SI as a test to see if it's sucessful or not, which it is. There are like 19,000 customers signed up after 2 months.
Haha, those are probably THE worst HD channels you can get.
I don't know if FIOS is really any cheaper than current cable companies, but I sure as hell will jump to FIOS when it is available here. Competition for cable is about 30 years past due.
These were added to our fios tv in Texas as well.
Hell, I just want to get FiOS TV. I have 15/2 FiOS with Verizon, but thanks to the Pennsylvania legislature, Verizon has to negotiate with each of the 660+ municipalities to be able to make their TV service available to residents.
Gee, that couldn't have anything to do with the fact that Scamcast is based in PHILADELPHIA, could it?
For those curious, only the Texas and Florida markets have these channels. Other FiOS service areas will get them next week.
My Verizon FiOS bill with 15Mbps Internet, FiOS Premier, one HDTV DVR, and one STB is $99.72/mo**, of which $4.30 is taxes and fees. FiOS Premier includes 200+ digital channels and 25 HDTV channels. All high-definition channels are at full resolution and full bitrate. No rate shaping or "HDTV Lite" on FiOS.

You are so lucky.
bfdtv you are so luck. if fios comes to town there is no question i am dropping comcrap.
bfdtv,
Where are you getting that service? I'm actually basing a large part of my decision on where to move after finishing school on whether or not the location has FIOS internet/tv service.
A $99.00 bill to get what you're receiving, bfdtv, I envy you immensely! :P
do they offer landline phone service with the FIOS too? Any signal issues with the HDTV programs?
Yeah, they have landline phone, and internet. I wish time warner tried to stop blocking the fios franchise. I currently only get HD via antenna, so I only have the "regular" channels in HD.
Ahh, stories of FiOS are like porn to me. Die Time Warner, Die!
FiOS TV in Northern Virginia has these channels now, too. My TiVo Series 3 automatically picked up the changes. :)
Also - Verizon selected me recently to test their impending roll out of the 50Mbps broadband tier. Having the 30Mbps plan already automatically pooled me into a group of beta testers. I love FiOS.
I live in Bellevue, WA and Verizon is running cable in my neighborhood as we speak. Internet is supposed to occur right away but TV services won't be available until the end of the year. FIOS combined services are cheaper that my Comcast cable subscription without phone or internet service.
C'mon FIOS!!!! :-)
I live in the D.C. area, Anne Arundel Md. I love Fios but noticed we have only picked up the food network HD and not HGTV or Lifetime. I have Com crap and Indirectv. Fios tv blows them away. The picture is stunning on my 50" Sony xbr1. I just called Fios and upgraded my tv package. They gave me HBO, Showtime, Starz, The Movie Channell all HD and Encore SD, for an extra 22.00 a month.
I also live in AA county jeff and I noticed all three channels were up Monday night... Still glad I switched from Comcast although I miss getting standard cable channels without a STB.
