Saitek's sexy Obsidian mouse incorporates touch-sensitive scroll
If you've found yourself pacing in tense anticipation for Apple's touch-sensitive mousing device, Saitek's latest could definitely calm your nerves and satisfy your desires simultaneously. The sexy Obsidian mouse touts a 1,000 DPI optical tracker, four-way touch-sensitive scroll, a bundled recharge cradle with wireless transmitter, five total buttons, support for Windows / OS X systems, Teflon feet, and best of all, it even includes a pair of Li-ion batteries to keep you mousing all through the night. Additionally, the curvaceous critter doesn't play favorites with dominant hands, as both righties and southpaws alike shouldn't have any qualms handling this one. Currently, the Obsidian is available now for £39.99 ($80) for our pals across the lake, but if you'll just be patient, the device is slated to land on US soil for a mere $49.95 real soon.

It's worth waiting for in the US; we get charged way too much over here in the UK!

I just hope it works better than my (and many other's) Saitek Cyborg that would just do a hard left on it's own every 1-2 seconds.... sure they released a "patch" for it, but do you think it worked? (Sorry, I guess I'm just a bit pissed)

Hmmm... looks like we might finally have a decent touch-sensitive mouse...

Actually, Amazon (in the States) apparently has them now and seem to be shipping for $49.99:

I recall having seen this mouse (ok, something similar... I think it was orange and yellow) from Saitek with a touchthing instead of a scroll wheel for quite a while in shops here. Like... 6-8 months ago or so?
jaalin @ Apr 19th 2007 1:17PM
theres a review from the uk floating around, says the mouse is too wide for comfort - but the touch scroll works very well

Bluetooth, dammit! I don't want no dongles on my lappy! (probably should have thought that statement through before I typed but, oh well, backspace be damned!)

Am I missing something? CDW sent us a wireless USB mouse around Christmas time (along with a huge tin full of stale carmel corn) two YEARS ago that had a touch sensitive scroll "wheel" on it.
I might be mistaken, but that was long before Apple or these guys 'came out' with this one.

I've been waiting for such a mouse quite some time and there hasnt been any promising concept yet(including this one too)
seriously saitek copied apple, like apple's mouse it's much too flat and its ergonomics seems to suck big time, sooo looks like i gotta wait some longer
(oh logitech, hear my crying :P)
