OCZ intros "world's fastest" 1200MHz PC2-9600 Flex XLC RAM
Champs don't stay that way long in the computer hardware biz, but one way to ensure that the crown stays in the same camp is to one-up yourself before another firm can beat you to the punch. OCZ seems to be feelin' said mantra, as the company's latest Flex XLC RAM overtakes the previous rendition to claim the "world's fastest" title at 1,200MHz. Of course, we've seen quicker memory stuffed onto graphics cards, but the new motherboard-ready PC2-9600 Flex XLC modules sport a svelte hybrid cooling system that melds passive air and liquid injection systems to give you all the bragging rights you'd ever need. The DDR2-1200 modules are currently available in 2GB (2 x 1,024MB) kits, come with a lifetime warranty, and will run you right around $250.

that's a heatsink on the RAM right?
cool it seems fast, but wouldnt it be cheaper to get an 800 DDR2 SDRAM n overclock it?
i dont see this a worthy of buying unless ur earning a high budget.
Well, this is guarenteed to hit 1200mhz at the timings advertised... So, if you're in the need for super fast overclocking RAM, this is the one for you. For example, I purchased a set of RAM rated for DDR2-1000 @ 4-5-5-15. I was then able to run it at 800mhz 3-4-4-12, which makes a huge difference in certain benchmarks.
And yeah, that's a Heatsink on the ram, with the option of (useless) 1/4" watercooling.
And 250$?! cmon Engadget, the PC2-9200 stuff is in the low 300s for a 2gb kit, how would this stuff be 50$ cheaper...
£210 for the previous model on ebuyer in uk!!
Uhhh, hello!!!! Kingston has had DDR2 PC2-9600 for some time now. Wow! Get your facts right people. You can get a 2GB kit of DDR2 1200Mhz Non-ECC CL5 (KHX9600D2K2/2G) for $309.39 at:

P.S. No one cares anyway since DDR3's launch is imminent.
from what ive read about DDR3, the benchmarks r higher then DDR2, proving lower latency, but is lower voltage is the only positive i can think of from DDR3.
And DDR3 will be as popular as DDR2 was? (Which is to say.. not very)
Having been running Kingston DDR2/1200 for about a month now I chuckle at this "first."
It says 'fastest' not first.
OCZ has some of the worst Customer Service in the industry. Last time I had bad RAM a year into ownership, they refused to help me. Luckily Newegg who originally sold me the RAM was cool with replacing it for them.
I will never again buy OCZ ram.
Wait a minute, is that a barb for like water cooling on the RAM's heatsink?
Well if we have water-cooling for RAM now, I demand that my mouse, sound card, and my power supply be water-cooled. And there should be a water-cooled cup holder for my drink.
hmmm have been faster memmory out there for at least 2-3 months...
