Onkyo's new receivers feature both XM and Sirius satellite radio

Onkyo has the loot for you if you want to hear Oprah and Howard back-to-back, with announcements of five receivers featuring both XM and Sirius satellite radio compatibility. The TX-SR575, TX-SR705, TX-SR805, and TX-SR875 models all support both formats for your radio jones, while the high-end TX-NR905 model also adds support for HD Radio digital broadcasts and an Ethernet jack for Internet radio and multimedia streaming. The receivers all have the usual collection of video ins and outs, and sport 1.3a HDMI connectors with Deep Color capability for switching between sources up to 1080p resolution. No pricing or dates were announced for the TX-SR575, but the TX-SR805 will ship in May for $1099, the TX-SR875 in June for $1699, the TX-SR705 in July for $899, and the TX-NR905 in August for $2099.

Sign me up for the TX-NR905 - But one thing i did not read anything about HDMI 1.3 lip sync correction on these , that was a major plus of HDMI 1.3 ..
$2100 for HD radio? Oh well I'll pass on this generation. Put HD radio in all the models and we'd be talking, but if the passkey for that and hdmi 1.3 and HD 8 channel sound is that high, I'll wait.
They behave like it was complicated to include it. Perhaps they ought to get some REAL engineers...
Yeah, thats right... all you get is HD Radio for your 2 large. No upconverting, no amplification, no HDMI 1.3, no.... no... oh wait.... there's a lot more than just the HD Radio.
Before you start slaggin on Onkyo for at least offering all three of the 'next gen' radio formats, try using one first. How many other home theater companys offer both XM and Sirius, let alone HD Radio. Hell, at this point, even Integra (onkyo's premier line) doesn't offer both XM and Sirius + HD Radio.
Look at it this way, with these upcoming recievers you're kind of future proofing your satelite radio needs. If the XM/Sirius merges is approved, you're covered. If it doesnt get approved, you're covered. If the satelites fall from the sky and all you're left with is terresterial radio, you're covered.
Oh damn, I need $2100...
I have be dismayed by the lack of HDMI 1.3 adoption in A/V Receivers except for the Sherwood system announced at CES in January. And guys what... I'm still dismayed :) Ya... these new Onkyo systems have everything I want in A/V Receiver, but it has a lot of stuff I can give a rat's ass about (XM and Sirus). I pay my cable company enought for a subscription service. I don't keed to shelve out another 10 bucks a month to someone else.
Sorry but satellite radio is so played out...why would a high quality component maker even offer it when the sound quality is such shit?
for $2100 I'd get a computer to do everything but the amplification....then spend all the money I have left over on the amp..... then have money left over, and umm, where am I going with this?
The title of this post is terrible. The inclusion of XM and Sirius is not why these receivers are good.
The 605 offers HDMI 1.3 and video upconversion for $499 dollars
The 805 blows Yamaha's new RX-V861 out of the water for the same price.
The 875 and 905 both offer 4 HDMI (with 2 out on the 905) 1.3 inputs and Reon-VX Video Processing for scaling.
The XM and Sirius radio is just a little add on to already great receivers. I don’t see why that is what this post focuses on, or why people are complaining about their inclusion.
@ Owen V
Can you show me a computer that has upscaling of all inputs to 1080p, has 4 HDMI inputs and can output, over HDMI to 2 seperate TVs, all while decoding Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio?
All of this is garbage...too much $$$.
Just buy a $300 160W 3xcomponent video input stereo receiver.
You don't need HDMI/HDCP/DVI folks...component video (compared side by side) is indistinguishable.
They're only pushing this digital garbage due to copy protection.
If you want Sirius...just hook up a damn mini-itx computer to your a/v rack...you need it anyways to do Myth, Joost, LiveLeak and all the other cool VOD services out there.
This is WAY too much money for a receiver.
Joost sucks.
Care to elaborate?
Joost provides (for now) free fairly-commercial free somewhat hi-res streaming of commercial (non-user submitted) content.
Comedy Central has provided 5-6 programs for 3 different shows (Man Bites Dog, Freak Squad? and Stella)...and it's the funniest stuff out there. Far better than the crap generally found on tv.
There are like currently 20 or so other channels.
I think it's a pretty damn good headstart.
Ok guys, I'm accepting donations so i can bring one of those 905s home. :-)
I have an Onkyo 603 right now and i love it, but i wouldn't mind all the extra features of the 905.
I own a sirius radio and the antenna input looks NOTHING like the input in the pictures. Not sure about the XM antenna input though.
Onkyo makes GREAT stuff. I have had Onkyo and Integra boxes, and love them. I've been looking for an HDMI switching receiver with scaling/deinterlacing, and these are what I want. Sirius is a plus.
@ Artheon: The Sirius input is for a Sirius Connect box, not an antenna.
The TX-SR575 is available now from Amazon for $356 (list $399).
