Those disappointed by the lack of
CableCARD support in S1Digital's
line-up of Media Centers released earlier this year may want to give the boxes a second look, as the company's now finally decided to join the likes of
Niveus and
Velocity Micro in the CableCARD game. Both the company's ProLine and Home Series Media Centers will be getting the upgrade early next month, with each able to be equipped with up to two CableCARDs apiece. The systems appear to be otherwise unchanged, however, running on Core 2 Duo or Quad processors, and configurable with up to 1TB of storage, Blu-ray or HD DVD drives, and up to two ATSC and NTSC tuners, among other goodies.
I love the cup-holders.
lol those do look like cup-holders.

It looks like an old IBM PS/2 case...
err, sorry, one of the Aptiva desk units that is.
I just wish they'd sell cablecard tuners a la carte, I upgraded my desktop and over the past year so that I could swap out my measly analog tuner for a cablecard and hd tuner after I got vista ultimate running, now they're telling me my extra $1000 I spent is worthless for the purpose I spent it for.
A terebyte of analog tv is still analog tv.
I have the same problem. Has someone heard of a small CableCard adaptor for my Windows Media PC? My only other option would be to rent another cable box from the cable company, which wouldn't work that well, as you need to deal with the cable box now (also, it takes a lot of space).
I'm dreaming with the day the Windows Media PCs will come with these slots....
Well the problem I mention is because currently they are only willing to sell them to OEMs who manufacture 'certified' pre-build machines that are complete systems, which I've not seen available for under around $2000 yet. When I have a fully capable machine just needing that one card I'm rather unwilling to scrap a good computer who's sole purpose is as a media center.
Right... so, I just don't get it. Maybe I'll be interested when these things cost less than $3,500. I can build a frickin core 2 duo machine with that much power/graphics/storage for about $1100... I just can't buy a damn vista MCE compatible cablecard tuner to hook it up to my TV.... FOR THAT, I need to spend $3,500 for some reason.... seriously, I DONT GET IT. Why are they doing this to us?!?!?!
