The Moleskine disk enclosure: a moveable geek feast
Ever welled in bohemian romance at the sight of a second-hand Penguin Classic casually slung from a rear pants-pocket? If so then you'll understand the avant-garde glory of the Moleskine disk enclosure. At $25 or so, this homemade 2.5-inch SATA enclosure costs less than a bottle of your favorite wormwood elixir. Sure, it might fry your disk without proper ventilation, but your soul at least, shall be redeemed.

Hehe... good call, Thomas. MY first thought was that sucker was gonna get hot and you'll have a pretty looking hard drive that don't work too!

That's sweet. I do all my writing in those. (And it's Moleskine, not Moleskin...)

Oh boo... Slashdot'd... Or is that BoingBoing'd? Engadget'd? Anyone have a mirror or cache link?

I would like to try this with a 1.8" drive, they should run a lot cooler.
strider_mt2k @ Apr 26th 2007 10:24AM
I might try this with my 1.8" drive enclosure, but it's faux leather cover is pretty cool already.

I had a similar idea doe a ipod case like 3 years ago but my 20GB at the time would not fit. A nano or new 30GB probably would though. Basically a thickness problem. I believe my 60GB or 80GB wouldn't fit either.
Could someone get cracking on this please?

As cool as that is, why not just stick one of those super-slim usb drives in the pocket?

papa would be proud!
if only those ex-pats could have
seen the word-processing world...
actually, then i suppose this little
gem of a journal may have gone un-sung...
could be an 'A Sound of Thunder' spin-off
pitch: could hemmingway or margaret mitchell
have changed the face of literature if they
had been tapping away at a laptop rather than
writing in long-hand...? hmmm...

I love Moleskin notebooks so much. Probably more than I should. Could be turning into a fetish.

What you need to do is write a combo of this with the SATA-CF card you wrote up a couple of days ago - that should run a little cooler shouldn't it? no where near the capacity though I guess.
Is there any other solution for the heat? this could be loads of fun.
benjamin @ Apr 27th 2007 6:37AM
solution for the heat... open the book & let the heat escape..
