Palm Treo 755p review roundup

Despite offering little more than a mild refresh to its already-ancient predecessor, initial reviews of Palm's latest and greatest Garnet device have been overwhelmingly positive. The same Palm OS niggles of old are still there -- the lack of multitasking capability is pretty hard to swallow at this point -- but for business users looking for familiarity and a time-tested formula, the platform simply can't be beat. Call quality and signal strength both seem to be quite good, a larger battery adds a wee bit of weight in exchange for improved standby and talk times, and the absence of an aerial is a welcome change that makes the Treo's overall design appear marginally less dated. If WiFi isn't a priority (keep in mind EV-DO picks up some of that slack), it looks like the 755p might be a great way for folks to get in on what'll likely be one of Garnet's last hurrahs.

I have an xv6700 as well, it's a great phone. There is a registry hack that will enable both phone and wifi at the same time. It's pretty easy, just google it.

Joshua - if you think half the stories are cross posted, you're obviously not reading Engadget Mobile. We try to pick a select subset of stories that we think are going to be of broad, general interest to Engadget's readership for crossposting, but you'll find that coverage on Mobile is far deeper to cater to mobile enthusiasts.

I upgraded from the Treo 650, and I *love* the Treo 755p. The ability to directly access my email from my organization's Microsoft Exchange server without having to using Sprint Business Connection (or Good link) is fantastic! Plus, this thing downloads info. from the Internet at blazing speeds. I love the way the rubberized Treo 755p feels. This is NOT the same phone as earlier Treo's.

Have had this phone (or several replacements for this phone) with Vodafone network for the past 12 months and given up as it's so unreliable, fault after fault after fault. Now they say it's the way the phone works with the network that causes the propblem? Don't get one.
