Microsoft unveils limited edition Simpsons-themed Xbox 360

It may have taken forever for The Simpsons to reach the big screen, but it looks like Fox isn't wasting any time turning products yellow to tie-in with the movie, following up its Simpons-branded Samsung cellphone with a Homer-fied Xbox 360. Obsessive collectors could be in for a hard time tracking one of these down, however, as Microsoft's only producing 100 units to be given out at a series of special events and promotions. While they've gone all out with the branding, Microsoft has skimped on the console itself a bit, using the 20GB Xbox 360 Pro instead of the Elite. From the looks of it, you also won't be getting EA's just-announced Simpsons game with it, which, for a change, isn't actually based on the movie.

i have one of the Simpsons-themed Xbox 360's and i am considering selling it on ebay. if i find that people are willing to pay a significant enough price for it, im probly gonna put it on ebay. anyone wanna help me out by replying with how much they would pay? im to lazy to put it on ebay, but if i find that the demand is high, ill probly put it on ebay.

i would love to buy the simpsons xbox 360 console of you. I am a massive simpsons fan and I have a simpsons themed room. I am 12 years old and would do anything to get my hands on 1. I have had a playstation 2 for 5 years and now my mum and dad said it is time to move on. Please could you answer this question, if i bought it off you would i have to buy all american games. I am english and would it cost more if i did buy games from america. Please could you send me a few piccy's of it.

Too bad this Simpson xbox360 won't be playing The Simpson Movie once it comes out on Blu-ray. Fox is still exclusive to Blu-ray.
I hate advertising on things you expect ME to pay for. If you want me to advertise your product/movie/band/sports team, you better A) Lower the price or B) Hand it over for free and call it an advertising expense. I think that people that wear sport teams hats, or Superman shirts, or whatever are fools. You just spent $25-30 on a baseball hat with a team logo on it. They pay MILLIONS to advertise, and they just took you for $25-30.... for a hat! LOL! You should watch Idiocracy... While it is a silly movie, it makes some EXCELLENT points.
Based on the article, these are being given away at promotional events, so you aren't expected to pay for "the advertising"
I sure hope you rip those automanufacturer logos and name badges from your car? cuz you are a rolling advertisement in the car that you just dropped thousands of dollars on.

People wear hats of sports teams because they are showing their allegiance to that team. Do you think that when someone goes to a football game wearing their teams jersey they are doing that to help advertise the team, no they are trying to show that they are a fan. If anything it is a personal advertisement of themselves not an advertisement of the team. And hey, if you don't like it then don't buy it...simple as that.
I, on the other hand, will continue to rock my Cincinnati Reds hat proudly and without any expectation of repayment from the organization (even though they really suck right now).
Interesting... I suppose, then, when you buy music CDs and DVDs you remove the cover art and place plain white labels on the discs themselves? I mean, you wouldn't want to "advertise" for these musicians and movie companies who make so much money, would you? And when you buy groceries, do you peel the labels off the canned goods and write the contents on the can with permanent marker? Goodness knows Campbell's™ doesn't need YOU advertising for them.

That's funny. That's how I feel about ipods and their myriad accessories.
The car thing is stupid. It's a car, people know what the car is. It is when you start putting team logos and band stickers all over it. That's when you become a rolling billboard. Oh, and BTW, I had the dealership remove their stupid emblem too.
Not true at all.. not everyone keeps up on all the releases of new cars and know everything before it hits the street. People don't even know that a some cars exist until they see it on the road. Then they get curious about the car and then research the car. Thats still advertising for the company that makes the car.
People like to show their support for brands, teams, bands, and causes because for them they feel that brand/team/band/cause is part of who they are or what they are about. They form a connection with that brand/team/band/cause and then want to show their support for it. If it makes them happy then so be it.
Go buy a version that has no special branding on it and stop putting others down by saying "they are fools" because they would like a product that is branded with something that they feel connected to.
Me too. My truck doesn't have any logos at all, except the one on the steering wheel over the airbag. That one is a little tricky to try and remove...
I do however have my NRA sticker on the window, but I intend to advertise and support them free of charge.

This wouldn't be a hard paint job. The most detailed part seems to be the dashboard plate (sorry if that's not the official name, I am not a 360'er), and you can make that up in photoshop and have the printing outsourced to the few companies on the net that do such thing. Then you could have an Elite version and if you don't like the orange controller (maybe it's just bad lighting, but the controller color doesn't seem to be the same yellow as the box)

Well, Ill stick to a brain covered 360 over this any day!
It could also be that this image was created before an actual model of the system was made and they used the same process to create the image as they do for all the other colored systems on their website considering Colorware is supposed to be the company doing the painting of the system. If this is real, this image was probably their actual model that they used when testing different designs to see how they would work.
Anyways, I hope I can win this, if it is real, so I can keep it with the rest of my Simpsons stuff. I would never plug it in because none of the XBox exclusives interest me, but I would still like the system, especially if I don't have to pay Microsoft for it.

I guess it doesn't matter considering I know that I would not be one of the 100. It's probably going to be some kind of XBox tournament that you have to already own a 360 to be able to win this new one. Just like I probably won't be able to get my hands on the Simpsons phone and I won't be able to get my hands on the couch promo display they have at movie theaters.
In a few years this thing will be priceless!

There was a time when companies would give away hats, T's etc to advertize their products. They found out that if these items where cool, some fools were willing to pay to get them. Now we are forced to advertize their products and pay them also. Are we smart or what???
hry about the sports teams in the UK if you not in top maybe 10 clubs you are in touble when it comes to money so that you need people to buy shirts and stuff so that you can put 11 men on the field on Saturday afternoon and that bad.

i must say the 360 doesn't look bad put its way too over priced.....one sold on ebay for $4,500!.
It's only a regular 20gb hardrive 360 and i think it should have at least been a 120 gb hard drive 360 elite...you can even get a simpsons skin in some stores so thats just a totle ripoff for stupid or rich people.
