Lenovo leaks ThinkPad X61 convertible tablet
Tablet PC Review has discovered a tantalizing spec sheet buried on an IBM website, one which details an upcoming convertible tablet that is presumably the successor to the popular X60: say hello to the Thinkpad X61. Although pics aren't available, word is that the new model will retain the same form factor as its predecessor (pictured), but offer beefed up options such as a 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo L7500 ULV CPU, up to 1,400 x 1,050 pixels on the 12.1-inch screen, as much as 160GB / 2GB of storage / RAM, and all the ports and wireless options you could ask for (well, except for maybe 802.11n and WiMax). Since the posted document is dated today, and it is the season for laptop releases after all, we'd expect an official announcement on this one to come any day now.

The X60 does a 180 but maybe the X61 will have improved that to a 360... Though I'm pleased with just a 180 on my X60 tablet since it makes it easier to spin the screen with one hand.

my x60 has 802.11n so i dont see why it wouldnt be an option on the x61...

So tempted to finally upgrade from my X31...
But I want a multiview 1400x1050 on a non-tablet X61. Make it happen Lenovo!

Thats one nice Laptop ... however they should use some stronger Processors in these tablets ... Thats the only reason I don't own one yet!

Have you tried lifting a normal ultraportable laptop with a normal processor? It's bloody hot. ULV is fine for a tablet, especially for people wishing to avoid burnt skin!
I don't mind a faster processor on a non-tablet X61 though...

wait, so is this a Santa Rosa tablet then?

This is awesome, because the X60 will now lower in price. Ha!

Actually, there are already some substantial price drops on the X60 tablet right now ($400+) on the Lenovo website.

Didn't Leo Laporte & Paul Thurrott slip about the X61 on the Windows Weekly show last Thursday on Talkshoe???

Thinkpad in the picture still has the IBM logo... :( ah, the memories

All ThinkPad's are over-rated lappies. It's even worse than a Macbook.

GEEZE ! I just got an x60tablet yesterday !!! however mine does have 2gb ram, 120gb hdd , wifi abgn, evdo and the processor mentioned above....so the description given in the main doc of what the x61 would be like. is probabaly a bad x60 document.
all i want is an outdoor 1400x1050 screen !

how does the x61 compare with HP TC4400?
Torstan @ Jul 10th 2007 1:16AM
It doesn't really. The x61 has better display options and higher rez options. And offers multitouch input (ie fingers and more than one at that). It feels way sturdier than the HP too.
lupex @ Jul 10th 2007 4:07AM
Would you rather go for X61 than TC4400? The price of Lenovo is pretty high compared to HP while HP has bigger processors for those interested in programs like photoshop etc. Don't you think so. Unless you tell me the X61 has some sort of compasation for using the new processors.

From Lenovo website, the X61 screen resolution seem to be only in XGA. Has anyone seen a different option?
