TiVo introduces universal Swivel Search

TiVo has announced some new-and-improved search functionality today, with its so-called "Swivel Search" promising to make it easier to find what you're looking for and stumble upon things that you may not have set out to find. Among other things, the newly-expanded search feature will let you start at one show and link through to others based on similarities in the actors or descriptions (as opposed to simply searching by title or keyword), with tags also now applied to shows to cover topics not included in the description. The new search also extends its reach beyond the standard program guide, encompassing TiVoCast and Amazon Unbox movies as well. As with most TiVo upgrades, there's a priority list for those that just can't wait to get it, although all broadband-connected Series2 and Series3 subscribers should be seeing the update before too long.

Swivel Search? Maybe I don't use my TiVo to "discover" new shows, but I don't get it - the name isn't really helping me.
Too bad my TiVo is collecting dust upstairs, because I "had" to rent an HD DVR for $7 a month from Comcast, as opposed to paying $$$$$$$ for an S3....

Please Mr TiVo, can we have this feature on our (poorly neglected) series 1 UK TiVo's???
What about on DirecTivo's? Have we all gotten so used to NOT getting new features that we don't even complain any more???
Adam - don't be silly. Sky+ -is- shockingly bad in comparison to (yes, even though S1) UK Tivo...but I fear we're stuck with it being the only alternative.
Yet another reason to leave the country and go Stateside!
Talk about lost in translation.
In the UK, "swivel" is a derogatory term, as in "swivel on this" accompanied by the middle finger. So a swivel search sounds very user-unfriendly.
