Thanko's slightly retro MP3 Clock allows personal recording
Sure, the art deco crowd has plenty of fashionable alternatives when it comes to alarm clocks, and even the off-kilter set has a few surefire options to get them a-risin', but for those of you who just can't live without the tried and true round faced variety with a pair of ringers perched at the top, Thanko's got your number. The MP3 Clock connects to your Windows XP-based PC via USB, and the included software can insert a number of animal calls, sensational alarms, or even your very own recording onto the device. Rather than striking up that annoying screech in the morning, you can now awake to cows mooing, a dog barking, motorcycles revving, chainsaws blaring (saywha?), or your very own voice demanding that you release yourself from sleep. The MP3CLK01 is available now to shake up your wake-ups for ¥2,980 ($25).

ahah that thanko and thier usb based products!
I've got older model that's been loaded via parallel port. The sound quality...umm, sucks ? And it's not MP3 clock, the sounds are in some weird format and it converts just anything windows would play.
Or I just keep using music match and the alarm on it that will play whatever I want.
Yes because we all have a computer in our bedrooms. Or even in the general area for that matter. Oh I know. Lets leave a laptop in the room so the bagillion LEDs on it can light up the entire room while we try and sleep. God people. Think before you post. Is that really too much to ask?
Well, I do and I'm sure others do as well. I was only speaking on my own behalf. Also when you have a custom built computer, you can put as many or little LEDs as you like. For your information, I did think, unlike you who trying to speak more for than themselves, so why don't you take your own advice. Next time it might be better to just have some common curtsy instead of ranting like a moron.
Gah. Why the retro look? Why not a traditional alarm clock with USB support. Add to that customizable snooze periods. (Something I've been looking for, for years.) and it would be perfect.
Hell I'm still trying to find a MP3 doorbell that you can upload tunes to. So far I've found 1 by some little hole in the wall outfit.
why are some of the simplest ideas overlooked?
Actually, I have three PC's in my room, an LED alarm clock, my stereo, routers, and a few things using lit USB cables. How do I sleep?
I just don't face the lights. More comfortable sleeping position anyway.
Could go rather well with the mp3s on this site :)

I too would love to see a simple mp3 alarm clock that just had a standard LCD display, snooze button, etc, and an easy, simple way to adding mp3s as a wakeup sound. It would be cool to see some of the CD player clocks slimmed down and the CD part replaced with an mp3 player.
Why not just use your phone for this?
My somewhat new non-symbian Nokia phone can use mp3s as alarm, and I can customize the snooze time.
