yeah, i've never heard of this problem... and the reason you don't hear more good stuff is that people don't post about how great something is, only problems

Let me be the first to tell you that this problem is real then. I have a huge bright band at the bottom of my C2D MBP 17", and Apple keeps telling me it's 'in-spec' even though I've never seen ANY laptop with such a wide backlight band.
