Is this the 8GB iriver clix 2?

Iriver hasn't exactly made it a secret that it's planning to release an 8GB clix 2 sooner or later, but the folks at clixhere! have now published what they claim to be the first pics of the much-desired device, although they unfortunately don't have much in the way of details to go along with 'em. As you can see above, it certainly looks like a clix 2, with the notable addition of red stripe running around the edge of the device. Of course, we'll have to wait for iriver's announcement to get the official word on that and any other possible changes, although we don't suspect it'll be all that different than 4GB clix 2 we got our hands on last month.

I suspect the red stripe is a gasket to address a posted concern about excess amount of movement when doing click navigation in the gen2 ( a subjective concern by a reviewer)

It's hardly a prototype. The Clix 2 is already out with a 4GB capacity. Usually upping the capacity of a device doesn't change the physical appearance, especially when it uses flash memory.

I have the 4GB. Kicks the sh*##%^&&t out of the iPod. Even video. Yea I said it, iPod got nothing on my Clix 2 and it's AMOLED display.

My Archos has a 160gb hard drive. 8gb is pretty puny!

People who prefer no-moving-parts devices are excited. Virtually everyone I know who has owned a hard drive-based player has had problems with their devices (especially iPod death).

LMAO!! I JUST ORDERED IRIVER 8gb from Korea. I don't know how... but i did is coming all the way to USA... My Korean friend did it for me...damm im proud of him...
