Sony's big little DAV-IS10 home theater system
Yeah, that satellite is freaky small and just a part of Sony's micro DAV-IS10 home theater system. Their 5.1 channel home-theater-in-a-box features 5 of the tiny speakers matched with a sub offering 450 watts of total system power (satellite speakers 50W x 5, plus 2-way subwoofer 100W x 2). The system features Sony's new BRAVIA Theater Sync technology for communicating with BRAVIA panels over HDMI and should be easy to setup with the help of Sony's Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC) optimization tech. The systems' 720p/1080i upscaling DVD/CD player features touch-sensitive controls and a Digital Media Port for attaching accessories such as the TDM-NC1 WiFi audio streamer, TDM-BT1 for Bluetooth streaming, and TDM-IP1 iPod dock. A pretty swank little system when it hits in July for $800.

Is it PMPO or RMS?
chris @ May 24th 2007 7:14AM
You would think they would not use the same ugly remote control design for about 15-20 years, but it's still the same. The rest of the system looks nice though.
AA @ May 24th 2007 7:55AM
Apprently the DVD receiver looks a bit like the DH3/5/7 series.
No info about PMPO until there's a instruction or service manual available.

Since their PS3 does 1080p, and the 360 only does 1080i, it seems like Sony's catering to Microsoft...lol
Crazy...why not upscale to 1080p...or better yet, make it blu-ray.
Maybe they'll release a 2nd version.
Bloobie @ May 27th 2007 8:43PM
Do you honestly think that you'll be able to notice the difference between a 1080i picture and a 1080p picture that was "upscaled" from what was originally a 480i image? LOL.

I am increasingly beginning to find Sony assuming.
RyanTV @ May 24th 2007 9:07AM
and we all know how good tiny speaker drivers sound...
Chuckles McGee @ May 24th 2007 9:30AM
The phrase "freaky small" popped out at me and I thought the picture was of the entire system.

I think I laughed too hard when I read your post at work.
WHY 5.1 do they think people are too stupid to hook up an extra channel or 2. The darn systems have color coded connections!!!!! When the 7.1 version comes out I'll get it. Does it have a piano black remote to match?
Marshall @ May 24th 2007 11:56AM
I have my doubts about the quality of wireless speaker systems, but it seems like if you are making something this tiny, it should be wireless.
Rick Lyon @ May 24th 2007 12:16PM
Marshall- You don't like speakers smaller than the speaker wire running to them?
Bill @ May 24th 2007 12:18PM
Does it freak anyone else out that the speaker is apparently being help aloft by a zombie? Or an albino? Or both?
Bloobie @ May 27th 2007 8:43PM
And how many devices or media do you have that have more channels than what 5.1 provides? LOL
Brandon @ May 29th 2007 12:33PM
Well I have a Yamaha Rx series 6.1 channel receiver that is expandable to 7.1 and I own some DVD's that are recorded in 6.1 audio example Gladiator special edition DVD is one of them. The audio effects on simulated 7.1 audio when listing to music is great.
