Sotec's 22-inch LB22JW-02 LCD handles HDMI
We took a peek at several of Sotec's latest machines yesterday, and today we've got a 22-inch "Vista-certified" widescreen LCD monitor from the same firm that boasts an HDMI input. Additionally, you'll notice a 1,680 x 1,050 resolution, VGA input, five-millisecond response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, dual two-watt stereo speakers built-in, and 300 cd/m2 brightness to boot. Of course, the ho hum design leaves something to be desired, but if you're lookin' to do HDMI on your PC display, you can snag the LB22JW-02 right now for ¥49,800 ($410).

I purchased my BenQ fp222w for $260 after rebate.
...FYI - 22'' w/HDMI and HDCP

Is there any advantage at all to having HMDI to your PC monitor?
randy @ May 24th 2007 11:27AM
That's great that it has HDMI! I bet folks just can't wait to take advantage of those speakers!

How is this any different than me plugging a Blu-Ray/HD-DVD player into my Dell 24" with a $5 HDMI to DVI cable?
Jason @ May 24th 2007 3:13PM
well for one, HDMI can carry audio, DVI cannot. And like the post below, you might want to check out HDCP, its kind of a big deal.

Yeah dude, I'm so excited about using those built-in monitor speakers! I just don't know what I would do without them.
You need to go and read the internet about Dell 24" LCDs ... they do have HDCP. So, go away with your ignorant posts and leave me alone. I'll continue playing HD-DVDs and Blu-Rays at 1080p through my Dell 24" while you babble on about HDCP and how my monitor doesn't have yet even though it does.

Because that monitor doesn't support HDCP - the Next-Gen HD content protection. Have fun with your $500 paperweight.

The Dell does have HDCP Support.

IE - HD-DVD, and Blu Ray will not work with your older model of LCD.
paloooz @ May 24th 2007 1:00PM
I don't have the old model ... Way to make an ass out of yourself, though.
mander5161 @ May 24th 2007 1:50PM
would this be an acceptable 2nd hdtv hooked up to the hdmi output of a cable box?
Kunikos @ May 24th 2007 1:53PM
What a joke, you can get a x2gen branded one that's brighter, has hdmi and handles hdtv signals, and only costs $250.
randy @ May 24th 2007 6:22PM
I just got that X2Gen MW22u. It's spectacular. $259 minus 50 at ecost. My rebate was processed without issue.

Well What good is HD-DVD if you use (2) watt speakers. I'm sure it would be just like your in movie if u block your ears. I use DVI to HDMI for my computer in my living room and it looks just as good as HDMI to HDMI who cares about your audio over HDMI cable.
