iPhone rumor du jour: June 20th release date
Ok, another iPhone rumor -- you want to be looped in, don't you? If not then just wait, there'll be another post along shortly. Anywho, supposedly according to a CNBC "On the Money" report, an AT&T store told them Apple's cellphone would launch on June 20th. Which is hilarious because if you call 10 different cellphone stores you're bound to get ten different answers regarding the launches of upcoming products -- especially the hottest phones. Why? Mostly just because those clerks read the rumors online just like you. Surely enough, the AP apparently called a bunch of AT&T stores and got launch dates franging from June 11 to June 22, but nothing certain from Apple or AT&T corporate. Still, makes for some amusing Friday reading, dunnit?[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Ryan, you learn quite fast! Not the first on the "Block" to post this "rumor"...
I guess it beats having the SEC breathing down your neck for pushing stocks down...

It's important to get the date right ASAP so people can cancel their wedding a bit ahead of time if it was planned for the same day. You gotta show some respect to family and friends.

I can't wait to play with an iphone (you know I'm not buying one for anything more than $300).
sinhumane @ May 25th 2007 6:49PM
my brother in law works for radio shack, and showed me their advance handset.. its nifty enough.. i wouldnt buy one... the pricing should be 300 with a two-year, after subsidies.
Jake @ May 25th 2007 7:06PM
Wow. Lie much? Apple wouldn't give out prototypes to ANYONE especially some lowly manager.
Jeff Snugglebutton @ May 25th 2007 7:36PM
June 26th is the only date the iphone will be launched all others are WILD speculation...and yes ATT told us not to mention anything because it is cause for dismissal, but oh, well...who is going to read this anyway.
mrsalty @ May 25th 2007 7:38PM
There are a few in customer care, marketing and tech support. All others have been flown out to HAWAII, ok this is just wild speculation...or is it ; )

iDon't give a shit about the iPhone. I'm sick of the damn thing and its not even released yet.
SarahLauren33 @ May 25th 2007 9:04PM
Can't wait for the iphone to come out ... a little too expensive for me though, especially for a phone. I am hoping to win one, this company Red Butler is giving away 5 iphones.

Good luck everyone!

"Dunnit" is not slang for "Doesn't it". Nobody says that.

Last week at a Wireless Wave kiosk in Square One mall (Mississauga ON, Canada) A clerk told me rogers would be releasing the iPhone "around back to school 07". He also said it would be $499 cad on a 3 year commitment. Concrete..? certainly not, I'll believe it when I see it.
Regardless, I just though I'd share what the rumor mill around here is churning out.

@easy: That innt right. Some folks have accents. Dunnit make sense to you?
iPhone & service contract to use the goodies:
* $640 Phone - $599 plus tax (~8%)
* $60/mo Voice Plan - cheapest plan with unlimited nights and weekends
* $40/mo MEdia Max 3000 Bundle - includes 3000 texts and unlimited MediaNet which I assume will work as the browse function on the iPhone
* $8/mo Fees - lovely fees
So doing the math, and looking at a year of usage on this device, the total comes to: $1936.00
Now, that's genius! Kudos to Apple & AT&T for developing and serving the ultimate telco cash cow.

yo crescentdavid,
You could look at it like that if you want to be a stickler pinchy pennies. I personally prefer too look a the numbers like this.
$640 for a super cool ipod video player and slick new phone
$60 a month extra to have some star trek like functionality (I pay about $50 now for regular boring old cell phone)
Who cares! I just want one,.... NOW!

Wait, did they fix the 40 minute crappy battery function yet and freezeups?!
Oh nevermind, functionality never mattered to mactards before, why should it now !
