The 'no 3rd party apps' has been a strawman argument since day one... we always knew Apple would find a way to include added functionality, whilst filtering out hackers, malware etc
"3rd party apps" isn't a "strawman", Jobs himself said there would not be any. The existance of more than one app from Google does nothing to disprove that. Google is an approved vendor that Apple works with. "3rd parties" are vendors that release software without Apple's involvement at all.
