It would be fun to see Jeff announcing new gadget based on Linux OS in front of Steve balmer. That will make my day if not the new device. :-P

I smell reunion-ship of iPhone and ZunePhone here. Jeez hopefully no-one screams the word "OpenSource" this time on the stage.

Andrew Rahimi @ May 29th 2007 10:44PM
Won't happen Matt; not until a few months after the iPhone is released; Apple wouldn't want to steal its own thunder.

Leaked Palm pressed release:
Palm Advances Mobile Computing with Its First Mobile Companion Product
from Palm by Palm, Inc.
Core News
#
Palm, Inc. today announced the Palm Foleo, world’s first smartphone companion product.
#
Foleo has a large screen and full size keyboard to view and edit email and office documents. Edits made on Foleo automatically are reflected on its paired smartphone and vice versa.
#
Foleo and its paired smartphone stay synchronized throughout the day or at the touch of a button.
#
Foleo turns on and off instantly, features fast navigation, a compact and elegant design, and a battery that lasts up to five hours of use.
#
U.S. availability for Foleo begins this summer with pricing expected to be $499 after an introductory $100 rebate.
#
Built on an open Linux-based platform,Palm hopes to replicate earlier success with developers by drawing a large community to create new applications that will extend the mobile companion’s capabilities. Already, Palm has partnered with DataViz and Opera Software, demonstrating ease with which applications can be ported to the Palm Foleo.
Quotes Attributable to Jeff Hawkins, founder of Palm, Inc. and the visionary behind the Foleo’s concept and definition
#
"Foleo is the most exciting product I have ever worked on. Smartphones will be the most prevalent personal computers on the planet, ultimately able to do everything that desktop computers can do. However, there are times when people need a large screen and full-size keyboard. As smartphones get smaller, this need increases. The Foleo completes the picture creating a mobile-computing system that sets a new standard in simplicity."
Quotes Attributable to Ed Colligan, president and chief executive officer of Palm Inc.
#
“As we did with the PalmPilot more than a decade ago, and more recently with the Treo smartphone, Palm is driving innovation and capitalizing on emerging opportunities in mobile computing, a market full of potential. The Palm Foleo represents our first product in a new line of solutions that will redefine how people work while away from their desks. It starts today with a focus on wireless email, and we expect the Foleo to grow in features and expand its capabilities as the platform grows.”

My God, I hope you made that up. If that is real, it is weak. Super Weak.
harpreet @ May 30th 2007 3:28AM
well i guess the reunion will bring back old memories to life !!(like the way how steve worked his ass off making the first gui based operating system and bill just swooped it away under his nose and became the richest man on the planet)
Generic @ May 30th 2007 5:11AM
Well, Mr. Jobs did not do the job of making the first gui based operating system. The whole thing was bought from Xerox PARC which did a poor job in marketing that particular innovation.

harpreet @ May 30th 2007 5:35AM
dude we all know that but still it was him who wanted to make it public with very good marketing strategies(in other words he knew how to make money out if it).....but bill gates screwed his dream and became the richest man!!!
DetestMS @ May 30th 2007 8:10AM
Think about all of Apple & Microsoft's successes over the years. What made them who they are. Now think, of what percentage of those products / software were things that were already on the market & and successes of their own already? The GUI? Nope, when Mac came out, there was no commercially available GUI. What about WordPerfect? Lotus123? Netscape Navigator (just to name a few? Were those commercially successful products? Why aren't they now?
Yes, you will respond with Apple was not the first to come out with an MP3 player. They were, however, the first to make the record companies stop trying to ban all MP3 players, and the first with an iTunes like store. When they came out with the iPod, it wasn't billed as a "Creative Jukebox killer" as the Zune was heralded as the "iPod killer"
They set out to do one thing, not innovate, but make money by stealing the market from an already successful product, so they can become richer.
And no, they do not do this by making a better product, they do this by using their huge installed base, and making their competition incompatible with future versions of their blatant Mac rip off OS.
Microsoft is a scummy commpany which stifles technology by squashing smaller, innovative companies. That is why you see anti MS sentiment here by so many, we would love to see them fail, fall flat on their thieving, unimaginative crooked face.
Not an Apple fanboy, but a technology fanboy & an all out Microsoft hater. So get it straight.
qwert @ May 30th 2007 5:39AM
This could be interesting.
if Jobs and gates could really talk to each other, and not behave like their own fanboys, but really have a disscusion on the level of proffesionals ...
will it happen?
and if yes, what will the respective fanboys say?
either way, its going to be funny

hackedbyjoe @ May 30th 2007 6:35AM
When are people going to understand? Gates and Jobs are not great developers. They are great businessmen. Anyway, this is the best video ever.
