Wowwee's Roboquad up for pre-order
If you're looking to add yet another anthropomorphic automaton to your growing robotic zoo, hit the Read link for your chance to pre-order Wowwee's spider-esque Roboquad. Shipping as soon as they roll off the assembly line (estimated arrival: June or July), the 'quads feature an advanced sensor array not previously seen on other models from the company, along with adjustable "aggression" settings and a wireless remote. Eighty pounds ($158) is the price of entry here, assuming that RED5 is willing to ship units to the States.

Well. That looks like a piece of crap. Thing doesn't even walk - how would it go on any surface other than a flat, shiny tabletop?
You've never seen this in action, have you? It most definately does walk. Creepily.
I don't know what people in your family look like, but a "spider-esque" robot wouldn't quite qualify as anthropomorphic next to mine.
Guys, it would only take a few seconds for anyone with nominal photoshop skills to enhance this photo a bit.
For a while, the images on Engadget were ultra clear and sharp. Don't slip back!
Looks quite good in action. www.clickshop.com is doing a £5 off deal on all pre-orders and i think they deliver worldwide.
For an extra £10 it comes with this 6 inch cylindrical stainless steel device which allows it to forcibly probe humans in the near vicinity when on the "randy" agression setting.
What's anthropomorphic about a robot spider???
Now we're getting somewhere.
It looks incredibly cool.
I look forward to discovering it's flaws.
Anyone remember the Tom Selleck sci-fi movie Runaway? Remember the robot spiders from that movie? These Roboquads have an "aggression" setting, huh. Does that scare anyone else?
Well, someone has to say it . . .
I, for one, welcome our adjustably aggressive, spidery robotic overlords.
Sorry, it just had to be done.
