NVIDIA faces barrage of civil lawsuits
Those price fixing allegations that AMD and NVIDIA were facing late last year may have vanished from the forefront of your memory, but you can rest assured that the legal teams connected to the two are still workin' overtime to clean things up. Apparently, NVIDIA has been slapped with as many as 51 civil complaints over "price fixing and anti-competitive agreements, among other things," and on its March 16th filing with the SEC, the firm states that "42 civil complaints as of March 14 were filed against it on the same allegations." Notably, the outfit did state that the "lawsuits are putative class-actions," and unsurprisingly felt that they were all lacking merit and would be fought vigorously. What has the defunct band Busted got to so with anything?
The clue is in the name.
Great, ATI and Nvidia get sued and who bears the burden of their litigation fees and compensatory damages? As if graphics cards weren't already too expensive...

The same people that pay for price-fixing. Joe and Jane Average.
I love this country, but this is what's wrong with our court system: charges could be dropped, proved baseless or, after trial, a person could be found innocent of criminal cases, and then they get slapped with civil suits alleging the same thing for which they have already been exonerated.
Now, do I think there's price-fixing going on? Possibly; I know graphics cards are too expensive for me. But the Department of Justice and the Trade Commission found the ideas baseless and now, as if we can't trust our highest law enforcement agencies, we get to slap these corporations with a lawsuit in civil court? Screw that.
It's not anti-competitive if the competition sucks.
True dat.
This is just M$ funding nutjobs to pressure AMD and nVidia into not supporting Linux.
It's called the "Magic Wand tool," Darrel. The eraser just isn't enough.
@Ratteler: Linux has about 1-2% of the market share while Windows & Mac have about 98-99% It's pretty self-explanatory. Also, Linux is mostly used for servers. And who said it was MSFT's fault? Cool down.
If this is a double post then , sorry, my internet borked.
