Good news for folks waiting patiently for a
DAP that allows them to carry a complete
Linux desktop in their pocket, as TurboLinux has announced that its
Wizpy device will go on sale to most of the world sometime this month. Users in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, India, and Singapore can expect the final unit to include a 1.7-inch color
OLED display, text viewer,
FM radio, and play nice with Ogg, MP3, WMA, XviD, MPEG4, and JPEG formats. Although the aforementioned countries should receive shipments sometime this month, a non-English language version should ship to other countries in late 2007 or early 2008. Interestingly, it sounds like the 2GB flavor will only be available to Japanese customers, while the other locales will have to be happy with a 4GB iteration that will cost around $278.
Its a DAP not a phone... The look is pretty deceptive....
Doesn't the GP2X do all this, cheaper, with a bigger display, and the ability to extend ports etc ?
GP2X doesn't have a microphone
Talk about taking portability to extremes ... this would work well for someone who needs to travel light.
Thanks for the spam, by the way. I always wanted to know more about dating sites, Lizi. So glad to hear you are "... one of the founders of an internet startup which is now building a revolutionary people search engine."
Google must be trembling. I know I never knew what I'd been missing this morning until you served up the spam.
Could they have come up with a worse name?
...Hey, check out my new $300 DAP. It runs Linux!
...Nice. What's it called?
...uhm. Did I mention it runs Linux?
Looks/sounds awesome!!! It's just a bit pricy though, and audio quality is as of now up in the air...
I'm happily waiting for the ABI review (if it comes out)!!! (If you're a mac, go and listen to crap.)
Any year now....
!!!ENZOTEN!!!
it seems it is just a cheap korean player (ipod knock offs) loaded with linux....
how is this a knock off of an ipod?!?! i am not sure if you have seen an ipod, but you should check out an ipod before calling this a knock off.
