EleeNo EG3 watch uses squares to tell the time
They don't specialize in the video playing watches that all the cool kids want these days: instead Tokyoflash claims a reputation for weird watch designs, and their latest design is a refinement on one of their weirdest. The EleeNo EG3 has a face that represents the time through a series of squares: the top 3 indicate the hour, the middle three show how many minutes past the hour in tens, and the final three represent the single minutes. At ¥9,800 ($80/£41), the EG3 isn't on the high end of the watch hierarchy either. Just think of all the awkward conversations you can have with members of the public that have innocently inquired about the time!

Heh, I've got the previous version of this watch and I've been asked 100s of times, "Is that a watch? How the hell does that work?" etc. I don't like these newer ones they look all plasticy and crap, unlike the previous lot that looked a lot sleeker.

is it just me or does the watch on the right really show the time as 10:32?

3 of the bars are sorta hidden in shadows, they're there.
Actually, that does look kinda cool. Not really any harder to read than a standard analog wristwatch. Not nearly as confusing as to which hand is the big hand and all that crap.

It's still easier to explain than my binary watch...

I have the TTE Barcode watch with red LEDs. It sort of has a Cylon Raider look to it... my only complaint is that it's so big and heavy and they don't make more female sized watches. Delivery to the US from them was a snap, no customs duties to pay, and I ordered about $250 worth from them.

I am reminded of an episode of the Odd Couple when Felix redecorates the apartment and gets a clock that tells the time in lighted dots.
Want a watch that impresses? Nothing beats a real, hand-made, mechanical, wind-up watch. Now they take true genius and artistry to design and make. One Patek please.

Can anybody speak for the build-quality of TokyoFlash watches? I might order one soon, but they all look pretty cheaply made.
