Olympus teases with E-1 DSLR followup?
Four years in the making, Olympus looks set to finally launch the successor to their E-1 digital -- the first camera designed as a DSLR from art-to-part. Swaddled in silk with a "coming soon" teaser tagged on Olympus' European site is what can only be the new flagship shooter they've been dribbling out at tradeshows under the "P-1" codename. No specs of course, only that the E-1's successor will take "the excellent picture quality, mobility, and reliability of the E-1 to new and unprecedented levels." Hey, that's what Olympus says. Still, until they take off the veil, well, anything goes.

Great! The E-1 was one of Photography's best kept secrets. Ergonomically superior to almost anything out there. Unfortunately most people blindly go for Canikon. (Think different!) Anywho.. I'm looking forward to their P-1 offering.

This kinda looks like a diaper. I just hope it's not what they're releasing.

Doubt it'll get a full-frame sensor. It'll follow four-thirds.

Keep sleeping, because not even Canon has a sensor-based IS. Only lens & software-based, and they charge an arm and a leg for the decent IS lenses. Also, Nikon doesn't offer a full frame sensor in any of their cameras, and Canon only offers them in the 5D and the 1Ds. Canon's recent Mark-III at $4,500 isn't full frame and is only a 1.3 crop (some sports photographers may like the extended reach a non-full crop gives). But all those are in the multiple thousands of dollars and are in a total different category and price range of the Olympus DSLR.

Olympus is years too late with this. The Four-Thirds line is a dead end.

Adding to the diaper thought- what are those little nuggets on the table?

The teaser could be for the rumored P1. All cameras in the system must be 4/3 instead of full frame in order to be compatible with the lenses or vignetting will occur. the benefit is a 2x factor on all lenses and smaller bodies. the E510 has a sensor shift IS as opposed to the E410's electronic stabilization. more info and pictures can be found http://www.4-3system.com/modules/news/
