JVCs "world's largest" TV: 110-inches (and 728-pounds) of HD
They've been showing it off for more than a year, now the latest HDTV to wear the "world's largest" crown is up for retail. On sale starting July with delivery in October, JVC's 110-inch HD-110MH80 will throw a 1080p, rear-projected image right in the comfort of your very own digs. Measuring 3-feet deep and 728-pounds, the new RPTC features JVC's D-ILA technology to achieve that 1920 x 1080 resolution and 5000:1 contrast. Priced at ¥6,400,000 or about $53k when she lands Stateside. Oh, anyone else lovin' the remote in that press picture above?

"the new RPTC features JVC's D-ILA technology to achieve that 1980 x 1080 resolution and 5000:1 contrast."
Do the extra 60 pixels in width have any purpose.

ya the extra pixels serve not one but 2 functions, they are 1) make the size perfect, 2) make the picture more blurry so it isn't a perfect 1to1 image when you are watching your voom

At some point it just makes more sense to have a front projector.. the way tv technology is moving, this is going to look like a dinosaur next to a 110 inch oled panel in a few years.

Front projection TVs can be much larger than 110 inches...Worlds largest is not correct.
stretchsje @ Jun 8th 2007 8:41AM
How in the world do you justify something this large and heavy over a 10lb projector that will project the same image for $3000? The newest HD projectors are very bright, which permits you to either overcome ambient light, have a much wider-than-rear-projection viewing angle, or throw an even bigger (120+ inch) image. The picture quality is extraordinary. I guess it's nice to have rear-projection options of this size, but calling it a tough sell is an understatement.

This is definitely a tough sell at $56k. You could make an amazing set up using a front projector, top of the line screen, and even pick up a decent surround setup for cheaper.

Thank you very much, but I'll drop $5k on a front projection set up that will take up next to no space in my home and have a kick-butt surround system.
stretchjse...it's all about the Mitsubishi HD 1000 projector. It's under a grand and is incredible especially for the more budget minded.

How will you get that through the dang door?!
NovaLand @ Jun 9th 2007 1:50AM
Ask your buttler to take care of that issue.
