More details revealed about Meizu's M6se PMP
If you'd been wondering when you'd ever hear anything more about Meizu's M6 Second Edition PMP, today's your lucky day. Looks like it'll officially sport a seven-millimeter thick enclosure, support MPEG4, MPEG2, WMV9, H.263/264, and RM(VB) movies at 720 x 480 resolution (30fps, too), and include TV out for piping multimedia to your tube. Additionally, the viewing angles have been improved and the screen size was bumped up a mere 0.01-inches (huzzah?), and we're told that it can purportedly last 30 solid hours playing back music or between 3 to 5 hours when watching videos. The bad news, however, is that the August ship date has slipped to Q4, and we're warned that even that may end up falling through. Way to test our patience, Meizu.

not to mention FLAC and Ogg Vorbis support, native drag-n-drop mass-storage mode, etc.

Hot, 480p. I need to compare this to the Cowon Q5...I definitely want a higher-res PMP, but do I want an xboxhueg one, or a more portable one?

2 questions
1.) Price?
2.) Disk Space?
Ben @ Jun 9th 2007 1:53PM
As of previous engadget articles - $130 and 8GB, I believe.

Oh yeah, I reading that a little while ago. Thank you.
wtfman @ Jun 9th 2007 3:12PM
huh? so the screen is QVGA...
JohnTitor @ Jun 9th 2007 6:09PM
yes, the screens are QVGA, and still should pack 10 times more color than iPod and Zune screens
the confusion follows that the player, like Archos and Cowon players, can handle 720x480 videos at 30 frames, but the screen itself is 320x240
Krazy Koala @ Jun 9th 2007 7:05PM
Ya the screen as mentioned is only 320x 240 but since the screen is also small, the quality still looks great (my friend has an M6).

$130? Deal of the year! Get in my pants (pocket)!
mfojas @ Jun 9th 2007 9:32PM
I wouldn't mind the date slipping, if they decided to add in some frickin' AAC support. They already support MP4...
kadajawi @ Jun 10th 2007 7:28AM
Not bad Meizu, but why bother with the M6 when for little more you can get a M8, which is a phone at the same time, has a 720x480 touchscreen etc.?
eriko @ Jun 10th 2007 9:18AM
I just saw this thing at the local mall in my city, 1GB = $110, 2GB = $140, 8GB = $220. I live in Bandung, Indonesia BTW.
khako @ Mar 6th 2008 4:35PM
Wow,...rmvb...if the price is right and has a decent storage I will definitely get this.
