Ok, it's time to coronate the Engadget mascot -- we know how you've waited to find out whose character is going to appear on Engadget (and take home the Wii). We're just as stoked as you. Whenever you're ready, the winners are posted after the break.

First runner-up
Eric Vass - The all-knowing gadget heap!

Full size here.
Honorable mention (in no particular order)
Chuck Bird's KillbotMatthew Tarpley's busy robotGabriel Pasqualini's GeekoJen Popken's Joe Fanbot
And finally, the gallery! Thanks again to everyone who entered, we can totally feel the love. And once again, big ups to the
WMExperts store for providing the still very difficult to find Wii as the grand prize for the contest!
I would've picked Albert Castillo, myself, but the passed out Mr. Potato Head robot will have to suffice.
Wow. I agree.
Wow, those are amazing. Congrats to the winner and the runner-ups. That modular robot guy is awesome!
I'm diggin the Gadgie... but um... he looks really unhappy to be having all those modules plugged in...
::makes inappropriate joke about the size of his dongle::
I like that instead of actually having to go through the effort of thinking up a dongle joke, I'm just able to reference the fact that one should be made.
Dude, that blurry picture is way too blurry. It really hurts my eyes to look at it. Change the picture before you get some lawsuits lol.
Damn the internet filter at work!!!! Gunna have to wait till I get home to see 'em.
Not really impressed with any of them
great choice, i love it
AHHHH!!!! My eyes!!! MY EYES !!!
Congrats to the winner and runner's up! Altho I must admit Rick Manship's 'Powerbutton' little faces had me going they were great too!
so... how long until there is merch?
I thought the blurry picture was a magic eye thing and I was pretty sure I almost had it the first time I tried to see it.
I wonder, where is the space on that little keyboard, but I love 'em all!!! :D
Spectre Gadget was the coolest IMHO.
I don't like the frowny face on a mascot---
I would have voted for Albert Castillo.
good choice. sums up engadget and your usb fixation nicely!
I'm not impressed with any of them other.
Gadgie is slang in the UK for someone who doesn't wash!
"Yeah brah... those designs suck... I mean... I totally coulda done a totally sweet job on one... and like... totally schooled those amateur designers that like... actually submitted something... but uh... I didn't know about the contest"
Please continue trash talking everyone that actually put effort into designing something.
I'm sure when your vaporware mascot comes out it'll be phenomenal.
Albert Castillo, what can I say - you should have had it, my friend! Great job.
Why does the winner have a Treo antenna? Maybe version 2.0 will have an internal one...
Good job guys but is the mascot dead or knocked out? That is what I thought the "x" eyes mean in cartoon land.
Your choice is ok, but I like Geeko (http://www.engadget.com/gallery/winners-of-the-engadget-mascot-contest/273342/) better. Cuter and possibly more marketable.
Albert Castillo should have won, or atleast been a runner up.
wow.....albert castillo was amazing, why engadget, why??????
Why couldn't we vote for the mascot. We are the ones that have to look at it all day long???
Sorry Engadget, but you made some bad choices there. Albert Castillo should have won or at least be a runner up.
Definitely a bad decision. Why Albert Castillo wasn't in the top entries I have no idea.
I think the blurry picture should be the Engadget mascot.
Trogdor the gadginator - gadginating the peasants?
In my mind the mascot should be a Robot named "C3POverlord"
you guys are definitely blind... how come albert castillo didn't win and instead, you had that ugly, plain, tasteless "all-knowing gadget heap" as first runner-up?? or where did I get lost?? was it a rule for the mascot not to be a 3-d character? or a really clever one? or was castillo disqualified because of the text he wrote to give some support to his design??
I ask you guys to make the right choice and reconsider castillo, or to have every reader to choose the winner for themselves!!!
Who is Albert Castillo and where is his contribution? i've clicked all images i can ever find that i feel is somewhat good but his name doesn't show up on any of those. Anyone car to link to this dudes contribution?
Ah, found it. It was that "little gamer"-contribution. It was quite ok, but with that mascot engadget would get mixed up with a support-site for little-gamers.com :-/
Albert Castillo has got my vote as well. That to me is a real mascot. The Grand Prize one is cool, but doesn't say mascot. I looks more like a diagram for the retarded gadget user.
I liked the Green alien guy with the pink legs and the babe and a couple others that didn´t make it into the top group.
The one that got chosen is one unhappy dude. And dead, too.
Guess he will look better when plugged in....lousy battery life I guess.
Interesting choices. I personally wanted more full frontal nudity, but I guess we cant always get what we want.
With that being said, I definately liked Albert Castillo's bomberman looking guy.
Glad you guys liked Albert's entry so much! He did a really wonderful job so it makes sense to bump him up to runner-up level.
The top image in Alberts Gallery is the better one in my opinion. Not the one engadget placed as 5th runner up.
good looking. nice job guys
pity it looks sad. Can you do something about that?
It's great to see that Albert is on the runners up list, but I can't help but wonder why it wasn't the winner.
I can understand why Gadgie was the staff's favourite, but personally I think the readers would have made Albert the winning entry.
"coronate"! The verb you are looking for is "crown". The act of crowning someone is a coronation. You chaps really need to reclaim your English heritage, you know!
hmm
Sorry -- some contests we let our readers vote, but others, especially those that have a particular editorial process, we'll pick. Gadgie is not only well designed, it's also editorially versatile, which was an important factor since this character will appear in posts. Thanks much for your enthusiasm!
