Nokia's E90 launch party held in Jakarta
It's no secret that the actual launch of Nokia's E90 was imminent, and while you've had plenty of time to read reviews, stare at press shots, and drool over hands-on photo sessions, now it's time to party. A camera-wielding blogger was able to drop in on the fairly large launch event held in Jakarta and snap a few photos of geeks grappling to boot theirs up the fastest. Of course, we're sure you wish you were somewhere amongst the hordes, but feel free to leap on through for more of the action -- and to think, just under a month ago some impatient soul paid a whopping $5,000 for this bad boy.

Hmmm Jakarta is a big market for mobile phones.
Now this is a true smartphone...
those in the know understand why the "party" is in jakarta. hint: it has nothing to do with cell phones.
pedophilia?
Because Jakarta dudes is the biggest Nokia communiacator market ever ;) since the 9200 :)
I was born in Jakarta. The weather is hot and too many people in that city.
The guy in the second picture might be the guy from the Hitman games, trying to blend in like he so casually always does.
man..........
they're not GEEK....
nokia communicator in indonesia is a STATUS symbol.....
It's selling at around us$1100 a piece in indonesia and once you get of the queue, you can sell it right away at around us$1700 for a quick profit :)
i only like the 8 serise of nokia...
hmm... i think this is the first engadget entry that features jakarta (the place i grew up) . haha.

Oh yea, this is the first entry I've seen in Engadget regarding stuff from Indonesia heh. I live in Jakarta and yea, it is hot and crowded lol. On topic, the E90 is gonna sell like hotcakes here, as said above - STATUS symbol.
I agree, Jakarta is a big market for Nokia Communicator. You can see high school students... even elementry school students using Nokia Communicator. I think they probably use only around 50% of its features, or may not even aware of all its features.
Mobile phones really do reflect ones status' in Indonesia.. Can you imagine a kindegarten kids carrying a communicator or 8800? Well, to tell you the truth, in Indonesia, 99% of the mobile phone users use their cellphone to kill their time.....
oops, I should mention... what I mean was.. other than using the cellphone to make a phone call or txt messaging, from those 99% of users, they just playing around with their cellphone.. i.e:take pictures, browsing their cellphone system, playing games (snakes any body??)
Communicator users in indonesia are the furthest thing you can get from gadget geeks. mostly rich folks and status hungry idiots. well, thats what jakarta is all about anyway.
