Sprint rolls out Samsung UpStage in red
What's better than a black Samsung UpStage? Why, the very same handset in red, of course. As rumored last week, Sprint has chosen June 18th as launch day for its freshly re-colored UpStage. While nothing new is under the hood, we know some of you out there will appreciate this new -- and perhaps prettier, depending on taste -- iteration of this two-but-really-should-be-one-useful-faced handset. Pricing is set at $99 on a two-year deal and $50 service credit.

Yeah, a phone to match my car!
WOW! OMG! THE SAME DEVICE IN A DIFFERENT COLOR! Come on! How on earth is this new worthy? Please wake me when something interesting happens.
Did they update the battery wallet? Because if not you'll have a red phone that NEEDS to be in a black case in order to get any battery life out of it.
No technical updates, just an additional color. It does include the battery wallet for an extended battery life, also in red.

Am I the only one tired of cell phone companies making it "exciting" when they churn out the same phone in a new shade? Sorry if the suspense excites some people, but I find it annoying. What if you upgrade when your time comes to upgrade, and the next week they unveil the same phone in TRANSLUCENT! Sorry buddy, shit outta luck.
What's w/ this new trend of saying "is this newsworthy?" I've seen it on two posts just this morning.
Hey- Guess what people- these are gadgets. None of them are newsworthy. That's why it's Engadget. It's a diversion. Plus this post clearly states that this *isn't* really much of anything & is 4 lines long.
If some of you are getting all your "news" from Engadget & are disappointed I suggest the BBC or possibly NPR instead.
Yes, but it is becoming ridiculous to see posts so frequently about a gadget that's coming out with just a color change. For real... it's not noteworthy in any way, unless you're really just dieing for your phone, but only in a special color. And if that is the case, I'm sure there's a bunch of non-gadget sites for the fashion conscious gadget followers.
LOL @ this ugly piece of crap!
That fone is so not joy making. It is a poorly designed gadget with excellent marketing.
The Upstage was designed with a specific purpose, two purposes, rather. One side as a MP3 player and the other as a phone. I think it is nice to see the addition of red, as Samsung is traditionally known to make black and black-only phones.
I just bought one and it's DA BOMB-DIGGITY.
The best part is it was free with a sprint 2 year contract.
and they gave me $50.00 in free music downloads & a free wireless bluetooth stereo headset!
it's cool and it's my favorite color.
GREAT PHONE/MP3 PLAYER "Get One"
