Update: We talked to Mark further -- it was definitely an iPhone, no chance of being a fake. He said its user was flipping through songs and playing back music on the device. Note to iPhone obsessives: ride the CalTrain more often.

That looks like Mike Matas to me. www.mikematas.com He works for Apple now. He was the partner that worked on Delicious Monster.
What everyone doesn't realize is who apple users are, ppl who do not care about spending extra money for equivalent or inferior products as long as its makes them look cool doing it. Along with people who just fall for any marketing campaign that companies put out. I have looked at all their products and there have never been on product that has functionality >= to the price asked. Please someone name one product!
How about you acknowledge that you sound as zealous and naive as the people you're criticising and maybe we can move on to mentioning that product you ask about...

It's a FAKE look at the device in the picture very carefully the screen is that of an ipod u can see the square box of the screen...iphone isn't square box it's full screen

I saw the iPhone bac some months ago awhile at a party. I think his dad worked for Apple, but i drooled when i saw it.
I live in Las Vegas and frequent PURE nightclub. Last Saturday I was there and a girl had one. I asked her how she got it and she didn't speak any English. So yep they are out there. I too saw this and thought it was Mike Matas right away. I was a fan of his through delicious monster, and started reading his blog for a bit a while back, where he revealed that he works for Apple and is a big Apple hardware fan.
I would guess Mike will find this blog post through his referrer logs to his blog, and may even read this very comment. If so, hey mike: I sent you an email a couple weeks ago about whether Apple will be updating the Mini with Core 2 Duo processors and how you liked your Sony LCD. Any insights?

if you were so close to him, rather than be a voyeuristic speculator, why didnt you lean over & ask him? then it could be 100% confirmed or washed down the toilet.
from what i see it the photo, it looks like some electronic device, with little things that go in your ears,, so i am going to guess that it plays music of some sort,, other than that, the foto tells nothing.
(& how can you tell he is a hottie? the other side of his face could be all mangled & f**ked up)
