Samsung unleashes SGH-E950, SGH-E840, and SGH-J600
In a refreshing change of pace from Samsung's traditional black-slab design, we bring you this trio of hotness: the SGH-E950, SGH-E840, and SGH-J600 pictured above left-to-right. All are on display right now at ComnunicAsia and ready to ship in Southeast Asia before July is up. Of the three, only the E840 has a shot of making it Stateside with its quadband GSM, EDGE radios packed into the world's slimmest 10.6-mm slider. It features a 2 megapixel camera and up to 2GB of MicroSD to store your media. Nice and all but we'd love to get out hands on the tri-band GSM E950 instead. That black box on the face is actually a touch-sensitive display which fills itself with a variety of icons depending upon how the phone is being used. Interestingly, the FCC approved J600's main claim to fame is its "intense hues" of "mystical colors" like, say "dark gray" -- riiight, and dreary office cubicles are just tiny magical kingdoms for gifted marketing drones. I'm drooling over the middle one. Why must you tease me with these not-available-in-America phones, Engadget?
I just want to know who I have to slap to get one of these phones.
yeah the middle one is hot. the hardware looks excellent but i wonder if they improved the software. i was about to buy the previous version of that slider, a sleek black D900 Ultra (?) but was disappointed by the flash-based user interface which seemed to be able to not do much at all.
here's to hoping that samsung realizes this and gets into software development big time, maybe prop up one of the many linux mobile OSs to compete with you-know-who. otherwise it's hot hardware with little behind it...
So over this same, unexciting Samsung stuff.
same here.. they have tons of models that just slightly differ from each other....
*yawns*
Samsung releases a large number and variety of phones to cater to all of the needs of the consumers. While it may seem like these few are practically the same thing, each one caters to a different need or want of the consumer.

The E840 has been available in the UK and on Widgx Comparison for the past two weeks now
What is their fucking obsession with touch screen buttons.
I love Samsung's design and the features they pack, but touch screen just does not work.
It is utterly frustrating having a well crafted text delete by accidentally holding the C button.
wow! that slider in the middle is hawt!!!
Is it just me or do these look remarkably like the LG chocolate...!?!?!
These phones happen to be sliders, like the Chocolate, but that is really the only similarity I can see. The E950's touch sensitive buttons allow for a multitude of different functions to be done within the touch-sensitive pad.
