Well I've already set aside $50 for the Xbox360 CHATPAD so I can finally get some use out of the MSN integration.
I doubt I'd be buying this thing cause it makes NO SENSE WHATSOVER.
The only reason I possibly desired TILT function was for PS3's Warhawk which seems to be in developmental HELL and will end up being a singleplayer-less, multiplayer bore fest according to the releases on it.
It makes no sense for Xbox360 to have Tilt functionality simply because most games don't need it and plenty won't support it.
I can think of ways which TILT would be useful.
Rainbow 6 Vegas (and all FPS games) - peek left/ peek right
Command and Conquer 3 (and all RTS games) - scroll left/ scroll right
All racing games - allow for sharp turns.
Problem is, these features are already on PS3 and for Xbox 360 to suddenly get TILT functionality is like saying: SONY came up with better ideas than we did.
Spend you money on a better MOD. I saw in Chinatown them offering Xbox 360 ELITE mods that allow you to use a External Blu Ray drive.
I don't know if you know, but EVERY game on the 360 will support it, because the mod will replace the functionality of one of the joysticks when operating. Meaning, when you turn on the TiltBoard, one of your joysticks will be rendered useless, giving its functionality to the tiltboard.
I thought it worked in addition to one of the joysticks, not instead of. If it actually renders one of the sticks useless, then forget this mod.
Thanks for this valuable information about the board, yes what is inside is really true we can breathe easy...
I can't really see this being useful... After all, the reason why we have two joysticks is to control two different types of motion (actual moving and looking). What game requires three ways of motion? Moreover, I doubt most gamers hold their controllers perfectly level, and you'll be required to do so in order to prevent any accidental tilts. It's cool that people develop this for the 360, but even on the PS3 there hasn't been any newsworthy uses of the tilt control.
"What game requires three ways of motion?"
Any flight game.
I know that, I was being rhetorical. But you're more than welcome to attempt hacking your controller to enable tilt on all of the 360's wonderful and sophisticated flight games

...How so? It is currently in beta, and is getting rave reviews.
so is 90% of PS3's "UPCOMING" games.
If I could hold the controller like a steering wheel in Burnout Revenge I'd pick up one up!
Big: I agree with you that "most games simply don't need" tilt sensitivity. However you are wrong on the point where "most games won't support it". It takes over your left analog stick. No support is necessary.
I highly reccomend it for flying and racing games. I am slight biased though...
that's just my point...
The GAMES themselves don't support Tilt functionality. All your doing with the MOD is replacing Left Analog with tilt - which I can promise you won't work well with Xbox 360's FPS games.
I'm a heavy Quake 4 player and the analog stick is touchy enough without being modded into a tilt control.
When I say a game must SUPPORT it, I mean the Tilt should be built into the game's software (or firmware) as an extra channel.
I'd rather have TILT on my R/C Helicopter remote for snap turns than than my 360.
TILT functionality is a movement modifier.
It does have use in situations where you could possibly control more AXISES of movement.
#1 You might turn your head left and right in a racing game (this might actualy require a second set of sensors for YAW sensing)
#2 You might be able to rotate the camera in a 3rd person perspective game. Think: GEARS OF WAR or Warcraft and being able to rotate the camera in a circular motion.
#3 In a flight sim a JEt could use it to ROLL (think Ace Combat) and a Helicopter could use it to fly sideways while aimed at a moving target.
#4 In any FPS game you could use it to peek right or left for around-the-corner shots.
Yes it could be used very well BUT, not in this format. This is just a half measure to make the 360 more like the PS3.
and if it works as well as advertised it should.
The whole zero level thing is you hold it where you want the null position to be (the same thing as not moving the joystick, where you want to hold it without any movement being detected) and press the button, this way you dont have to hold it perfectly level, you could hold it any way you want.
If it actually works that well, remains to be seen.
Just remember, don't fling your controllers.
