Syntax-Brillian is showing off its first HDTV above 50-inches in the U.S. at Infocomm this week, the 65-inch, 1080p
Olevia 665i. This LCD is aimed at the pro AV and high end home theater market, and is the first "large area display" to include the Silicon Optix
Realta HQV scaler. That, along with Olevia's Big Picture technology to reduce overscan should ensure you get
every pixel expected from HD and non-HD sources. Also included for the $9,999 MSRP are two sets each of HDMI and component inputs, RS232 control, removable speakers, and optional wall mount. No word on what, if any, tuners are a part of the package, but we're sure the
FCC will be taking a look before this HDTV goes on sale in October.

But the real question is how many HDMI ports....
Wait this is Endgadget, you guys would NEVER leave something as trivial... I mean CRUCIAL to the survival of our race off a new tech description.... *sigh*
Rob @ Jun 20th 2007 11:43AM
you mean like... where they say it has two sets of HDMI and two sets of component?
So quick to criticize

"Also included for the $9,999 MSRP are two sets each of HDMI and component inputs, RS232 control, removable speakers, and optional wall mount."
The cables are worth $0. The speakers are worth $0. The remote should come with it anyway. The wallmount is worth like $10.
I fail to see the value, here. $10,000 is a lot of money for a freaking TV. I could build a whole home theatre for that much. Audio system, projector, seating ... etc. But instead, I guess you could get this big ugly off-brand TV with some attachable 5w speakers ... what a bargain!!

The realta HQV chip in that thing an excellent scaler. Very expensive as well.

The key will be what panel they use. I love the use of a high quality scaler but with the 747i they used a so-so panel which is like taking one step forward and then one step back. They also need to work on getting these higher end models into retail shops.

You couldn't pay me to touch another Syntax Olevia product. They don't have the quality or the support and they suck big time. With hit and often miss products that don't live up to their quoted specs because of poor software or poor engineering.

The MSRP is way too high for a 3rd tier brand... WAY too high! and who's the TFT LCD panel supplier? Sharp.
rantanamo @ Jun 21st 2007 4:13AM
I've really enjoyed my Olevia sets. Best SD picture and best scaler you can find out there for an LCD. The "upper tier" brands don't compare to the scalers no matter how much they cost. Gurantee you this will be a better set than 90% of its competitors.

The price is $10K in June for October delivery?!? Good luck. There's an on-going shortage predicted for LCD. I think the price will likely be even higher.
Save your money for a 70" direct view LCD, est. street = $20K in Q1/2008.
