I will give Apple this, they have a great marketing department. Even if they can only get single digit market penetration in 99.9% of the products they have released, they have always tried to convince everyone they are the best at everything they do. If I was them I would ride the IPod success and try to emulate it until it no longer works too.
IPhone = Ipod with a phone on it. If you buy it for a PDA you are going to be horribly disappointed. If you want it for music and video it is a very nice, albeit overly expensive (another Apple trademark), device. Apple has failed with PDA's multiple times, a PDA with no tactile input is taking a step backwards (original PDA's were touchscreen only), and having no 3rd party software, no removable battery, no 3g, no push email, etc, means this device is something I would have expected to come out 5 years ago, with an added music/video capability that has been around since windows put media player on their pda's, which is basically 5 years ago.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

Putting a pretty face on old technology, Apple.
