Tired of iPhone and/or Apple news on Engadget?
Ok, we'll level with you. It's our job to cover the gadgets and consumer electronics space the best we possibly can -- and that often includes covering gadgets that one crowd or another isn't particularly interested in. (See: iPod fans when we blew the door off the Zune launch; or Microsoft fans when we took over WWDC this year.)So here's the straight dope: it's not like we're going to ignore the iPhone or anything, so for those of you told us you wanted to opt out of our iPhone or Apple coverage, we hear ya! We whipped up some slightly modified Engadget RSS feeds with Yahoo Pipes; we wouldn't suggest using these forever, but until we get our blog platform up to speed on exclusionary news it's a good enough temporary solution.
Opt out of Apple / iPhone news
Engadget classic without any iPhone news - RSS feed, Pipes page
Engadget classic without any Apple news - RSS feed, Pipes page
Engadget Mobile without any iPhone news - RSS feed, Pipes page
Engadget Mobile without any Apple news - RSS feed, Pipes page
Of course, if you have laser-like focus on this stuff and want a separate feed for Apple and iPhone news, we offer that too!
Get only Apple / iPhone news
Engadget classic only iPhone news - RSS feed, tag page
Engadget classic only Apple news - RSS feed, tag page
Engadget Mobile only iPhone news - RSS feed, tag page
Engadget Mobile only Apple news - RSS feed, category page
And hey, let us know if you see any problems with the Pipes feeds!

apple news is goood!! i would also like to know how many people click on each link? Ryan?
LOL i do have to admire the fact that if you go to the no iphone feed that one of the feeds is the Article teeling you that you can now get feeds with no iphone news in it, just insulting those futher who dont like iPhone news lol.
Matt
There are only apple fanbois....they are the only ones who are fanatical.
Everyone else just gets on with their life enjoying the best of all brand names.
It takes nothing to get an apple fanboi overexcited and frothing at the mouth with a simple comment bad mouthing apple.....its become a sport to some.
Apple are all about design and marketing.
The sell cool to the uncool.
They sell sexy to the ugly.
For people like me, who a cool and good looking...well we don't need apple but we do like to look on and smirk at the apple fanbois.
I will still be watching
Panik, it's really interesting to read your thoughts on what's cool and what's not. Hm, I was thinking, if there were any truth in your words, then why are all the fashion models and designers using IPod? I guess it's because all of them are so ugly that they need the cool factor to help them look better! Most of the people in multimedia business are using Mac's, but I guess they are just too stupid to use something else right? I have been using MS for number of years as well as many branded products, but very rarely would I come across a better product than Apple and NO I'm not a fanboy, just like when a product works rather that using my weekends to repair a OS on my PC!!! I think that Apple are all about products that works with ease of use. I like the concept behind it and I do consider the design to be outstanding, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't look around for a better product! After all, isn't that what all of us are looking for, a better product for our money?
Just because you think that all the Apple customers are uncool and ugly doesn't mean it's truth. But hey, I guess you're so cool that you're out of this world, right? ;)
Engadget Crew,
I think a lot of the trolls forgot what engadget.com really is, it's a blog. A blog to draw visiters, to see the ads. Seeing the ads sells products, pays you guys( and make AOL money.
Your job is to post things that draw visiters to see the ads, etc.
Trolls,
Now I am an apple fanboy, I won't hide it...but this trolling is getting rediculous! I read all the posts whether they're apple, M$, HP, whatever, and I don't like it, oh well.
Something similer happened on AutoBlog where Audi released a bunch of things and all the BMW, Merc, Chevy, Ford folks got wrapped around the axle because of the all the "excessive Audi coverage". They started calling it Audiblog.
Anyway, just remember that these sites are a business, and if you don't like what you see/read, don't read it. In this case, go read another technology blog and quite wasting Engadget's bandwidth.
Engadget, please forward the user info for everyone who opts-out of Apple news to their local Mental Rehabilitation Center!!!
I think that anyone who opts-out of Apple news is worse than an Apple hater!!!
Thank you!
So for the users that have no problem reading the headline and skipping whatever they don't want to read... thank you for not changing the normal Engadget... I'm happy with you all do.
I echo the sentiment of 'news', not 'fansite'.
I'm all for hearing about the iPhone news - how it works, what it does, what it looks like, even the docking station, the accessories, the battery, the headsets.
It's the "omg someone I know saw the iPhone i swear to god" Engadget posts that are annoying. I know it's more of a blog than a news site, and maybe that's why you get more of a 'fan' approach.
that said, I prefer to see all posts, not ignore certain types.
It's the anti-Apple guys that go out and research the alternatives to the iPhone that make the iPhone posts engaging. They'll do 6 hours of searching to find another device that does anything close to the same thing. They'll triumphantly post this to Engadget, and then the Apple guys will respond with their rabid devotion and belief that nothing in the world has ever been as big as iPhone.
I know what I'm getting when I click an iPhone post. Sometimes I skip them, and sometimes, just sometimes, I go in there anyway.
I think engadget may have unknowingly proved to all of us... that as much as many of you hate the news about Apple you unknowingly can't and don't want to live without it. It's like Paris Hilton, we all wish she stayed in Jail but truly love to hear stories of her being there.
I personally think Engadget does a great job of coming up with its posts. This is blogging people it's supposed to be biased, it's supposed to entertain, and it's supposed to be OUR view of what can often be boring news. If you don't want any slanted hilarious commentary than go to a news website or somewhere like CNET. Otherwise stop complaining when no one forced you to visit this website.
Keep on truckin Engadget!
I think this is just odd. I'm not always interested in Apple news, but more often than not, I am. Good for me, I know. What seems strange to me is that you would pander (it's not catering) to those who are somehow annoyed with the news as you report it. I suppose this could be a good trend, a journalistic outfit which actually listens to its customers/audience to determine what is relevant or important. That's pretty cool. Except for one thing... it's bordering on the slippery slope of censorship. I know that others have said, it's not censorship... at the moment I'd agree. However, what's stopping you from turning these filtered news feeds into revenue generators? That is, what if Sony said, we'd like you to take down Samsung news or Toshiba news for (insert price here)... would this be acceptable to you?
There's no doubt that journalism in the US is a commercial effort and blogs like this are little different, but there is a point at which you have to draw a line and I hope that revenue streams are never a factor in this kind of decision making for you.
Lastly, while were at it... can we add feeds that get rid of Sony news? They are about as relevant as BetaMax was in their day. And I'd throw in a vote for Samsung and/or Toshiba too, I'm tired of hearing about how the next micro harddrive or flash drive is going to revolutionize the computing industry...
Just my 38 cents.
There's nothing wrong with posting iPhone news. Just don't turn 1 story into 10 different ones.
How about an Engadget Classic feed that doesn't include the redundant posts from Engadget HD and Engadget Mobile?
I just think it's sad when people (Engadget readers) who are supposed to be lovers of technology and new gadgetry want to stick their heads in the sand and avoid hearing what one company or another is doing. I also have to question how many of these "fanboys" are getting compensation (in some way) from Redmond or Cupertino?!?
To Engadget I'll say, cover everything about the iPhone, because if you don't, I'll read about it somewhere else. Cover everything about Vista, Surface and MS Office, because if you don't, I'll read about it somewhere else. Don't start catering to the vocal minority - whether they have ulterior motives or not - because you won't be catering to us in the majority.
There can never be too much iPhones posts !
How about a version of the site (not RSS!) that is free of iphone rumours, but contains iphone NEWS? I dont care if someone thought they saw it "in the wild" - we all know what it looks like already.
Please not RSS...I prefer to actually visit a page, I LIKE to visit the page! I dont like to read RSS in reader as its boring and sterile.
What always amazes me when this topic is touched on here is that a bunch of loud mouths reckon that they know what people want to read better than Engadget. Don't you think Engadget would keep a tally of the click throughs and know exactly how popular each article is? What this move really demonstrates is that there is a vocal group of intolerant and selfish people who like to complain. You need to keep as many readers as possible happy Engadget, so I can hardly blame you. But it is a pity the moaners have been pandered to.
Can I opt out of Microsoft news instead?
You know, I simply cannot remember what life was like before the iPhone.
My response to this is 'meh'.
Yeah, it was getting a bit excessive, but I just scrolled past it all and had a quick chuckle to myself at how screaming-teenage-girl-ish it was getting.
I don't know why there's so much drama. Save your bullets for when they count.
thank you engadget. I'm about as big of a mobile enthusiast as there can be (i work in the industry) but am sick to death of hearing about the iphone.

I want RSS without microsoft
iphone news just gets to old after a while
How about an option to get the actual newsworthy iPhone stories (because it is an interesting phone) and filter out the endless non stories that you keep on posting up?
At the moment, I counted six iPhone stories on your front page out of the first 11 - and that's weeks after its launch. Don't you think that's just a little bit, err, obsessive?
I mean, it's an important phone but it's not *that* important.
I wish I could opt out of American news on the BBC. Who cares what's going on in that vacuum of culture and intelligence? Can I opt out of Microsoft news since it has no bearing on me? Why stop here, you should allow users to opt of news that has nothing to do with the subscriber's ethnic minority, nationality, sexuality or gender. Obviously I don't really care who opts in or out of what, I just find the concept within journalism absolutely ground-breaking and abhorrent. It genuinely couldn't have come from anywhere else but the USA, after all you're perfectly used to opting out of information. And no, I'm not a muslim with a iPhone.
even though my nane says i am im not an apple freak, but is news about a computer that happens to have another OS that irritating?
