Art Lebedev's Finger Folder flash drive
We know, either you're waiting impatiently for December to roll around or figuring out odd jobs to raise upwards of $1,500, but here's a gem from Art that'll take your mind off (momentarily, at least) that other creation. The Finger Folder flash drive describes itself fairly well without any help from us, as the brilliantly simplistic USB drive resides in a manila folder that you're free to label at will. Sure, you could get all fancy and buy a drive with a programmable BCD, but there's just something magical about doing things the old way.

That's cute!
And being from Art Lebedev, it'll cost upwards of $200 and be postponed indefinitely. So this is how raising funds for the OLED keyboard?
And it will cost 17-billion dollars after...
4-year design process, testing, re-design of the folder to be compatible with Vista's folder, post pictures on LJ, edit the LJ, make CAD mock-ups, re-re-design the folder's tab, change the USB connector manufacturer, change the color of the 'paper' to fit OSX true white color, change it back to firewire which was how it was in the first idea written down on a cocktail napkin, change it back to USB, and then say that if you want a version without the folder initially that will be available with a 'addon' being released later.
And finally, no support other than basic "If it works, its a miracle" on Linux.
Prepare for disappointment!
Umm, this looks pretty cool, but what's the USB port do? If it doesn't slide in or something, this thing would pretty much be useless.
I would totally buy one if it wasn't "17-billion dollars" and slid in.
Uhm, most of art's stuff isn't THAT overpriced. The alarmclock is only $150, and its pretty sweet.
It needs to have a retractable USB connector and a little desktop filling cabinet to store them in. Do that, and I'm in!
The hub should be a filing cabinet. Store them in your pocket.
"Finger "Folderiks" placed in a folder icon, arguing that the quest for Stage no limit."
Heh...I love automated translators.
China is making the $3 1GB version as we speak.
I can see the top thin plastic edges prone to breaking if slightly mistreated, not to mention just being less practical in the pocket.
Plus if were a real Manila folder i could handwrite on it :)
Stuff breaking off.....possible, so here's a suggestion "oh powers that be" ship it out with an inexpensive case that completely covers the who "shebang" then users can stick it where ever. :)
