Dell rolls out new 19, 24-inch LCD monitors
Dell's gotten official with a a pair of new monitors today, including the previously-seen 24-inch 2407WFP-HC LCD (pictured above) and the slightly more budget-minded 19-inch SE198WFP (seen after the break). The 24-incher, as we knew before, boasts Dell's trademark TrueColor technology for 92 percent color gamut coverage of the NTSC color space (in other words, it'll look real nice). Otherwise the specs are about what you'd expect, including the de facto 1920 x 1200 resolution, 6ms response time, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and both VGA and DVI ports (with HDCP support). While you won't see any of those TrueColor benefits with the 19-inch model, you'll still get some decent enough specs, including a 1440 x 900 resolution, 5 ms response time, and 1,000:1 contrast ratio. It's biggest advantage, however, is its price, which runs just $189, as opposed to the $679 the 2407WFP-HC's set to demand when it rolls out next month.

who cares? me want more iphone details.
surprise HD upgrade from 4/8GB to 8/16GB on launch day!
Who cares? I do. This is actual GADGET news, not just hype for the useless iphone fashion accessory.
Considering the price, I'm getting one.
I'm looking for a monitor from dell that makes the switching from DVI to compenent easier then the current models.
Does this change anything at all in that respect?
I have no idea about the monitor switching on the Dell. I have a ViewSonic that as monitor switching on the front that's very simple to use. However, I'm very interested in that 24" monitor. I just wish they'd bring the price below $550.

On the 2405FPW you press the source button three times and you get the component input. Press it two more times and you get back to DVI. And it doesn't toggle through each display type, it waits until you're done pressing the button and then switches. Not sure how much easier it could get...
Thanks for the reply strictnein
I must have been misinformed by a reviewer.
Is the component support really "crappy"
It sounds convenient, and it is, but it gets tiresome. There is no more grey on my input switching button. I use 3 of the inputs (component, VGA, DVI) and switch often between my 360 and PC.
I too wish there was a better way to do this.
Where's my 42-50' computer monitors? At that size, there's no need for a separate computer monitor and HiDef TV!
Well that true if your monitor is where you watch TV. There are plenty of 30" LCD monitors and lots of LCD TV's you could hook up to your computer, but you best have a beefy video card.
30 inches is still too small to watch TV, unless you're in a dorm room. And I have a 8800GTX card, much better than anything a HiDef TV would probably have built into it.
Really, something that big won't fit on a desk without you gazing up all the time. Still, if you're so adamant, why not just buy an LCD that big with a DVI input?
@chuckles b/c LCD's that big don't have enough resolution. The Dell 300 WS monitor has better resolution than practically all LCD TVs even though it's smaller than much of the TVs out there.
Crap! I just unpacked my 2407FPW monitor less than 2 hours ago... it's already been replaced!
F'N Dell should have at least TOLD me they were releasing a new model shortly.
The 24 inch sound like a nice monitor, but isn't LED backlighting due to hit desktop displays soon?
im looking for a new media pc which ,and a new monitor so i can use my pc for tv and my ps3 what do you guys and gal recomend i dont want to spend more then $2500 thow.

Where's the HDMI?
What's the point? HDMI IS DVI with audio. Just get a freaking $5 hdmi to dvi connector.
