Hori's Fighting Stick Wii joystick to head stateside
Sure hope you didn't spend too much in a bidding war over that homegrown Wii joystick back in December, as it looks like accessory maker extraordinaire Hori is planning to unveil something mighty similar real soon. According to Play-Asia, the firm's Fighting Stick Wii controller will be hitting the Japanese market in August, giving virtual console gamers a swank alternative to the Wii Classic Controller. Additionally, IGN has supposedly confirmed that an American release "is planned," and while a US pricetag has yet to emerge, those overseas can get their order in now for $52.90.

Oh goody, now you can buy this and undo the only thing that makes the Wii "new".
If you're going to ditch the controller, then... why play games on the Wii at all? I guess a fighting stick is inevitable for any console, but I can't help but be kind of insulted by this...

This is mainly for the Virtual Console games and when NeoGeo finally arrives on VC this stick will be essential.
It may work with Smash bros as well as the gamecube and classic controllers aparently work with it.
How it undoes the motion sensing I don't know (perhaps you have seen something that I have not whereby the stick automatically fries the wiimotes so that they become unusable forever) It is an addition and games will not be written with only this in mind. The majority of Wii games will still be designed for motion control but this will come in handy for the odd game that allows it and of course the VC Shoot-em-ups and Fighting games. It is also doing nothing that the classic controller or gamecube pads are not already doing and have been doing since launch (apart from being a better design for arcade games).

First of all, thank you to all the retarded assholes who lowered my post rank because you failed to grasp what I was trying to say. Without you the internet just wouldn't be the same, so thank you. Truly.
*sigh* My point is that the Wii is a last-gen console with last-gen graphics. Everyone knows that, but the reason most people are able to ACCEPT it is because of the fancy controller that lets you do stuff that you couldn't do before. Like I said before: If you're going to play games that don't use this feature, then WHY PLAY THEM ON THE WII? The ONLY selling point (apart from a few good first party games) is the controller. That was my point, and I don't care what any of you fucking morons think, that point stands.

For some reason when I read it off the controller I read, "Fighting Wii Stick". I think it sounds geekier and more wrong. ;)

What is up with Nintendo and making a HUGE controller for there systems.
