New HP Pavilions, Presarios announced
Something must be in the air this week, at least when it comes to announcements. Almost in tandem with Dell, Hewlett-Packard has entered the fray to show off its phantasmagorical selection of desktop-delights. Nothing groundbreaking here, but a decent cross section of models to choose from, including the small-form-factor Pavilion Slimline s3100n and s3120n, mid-range models a6110n, a6120n and a6130n, and two new media center Pavilions, the m8100n and m8120n. Also on offer are the Compaq Presario SR5110NX and SR5130NX, on a more budget-friendly tip. The majority of these feature the NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE integrated graphics chipset and Windows Vista Home Premium. Here's a long list of specs to sink your teeth into:
Update - Due to a little Photoshopping mishap, the original image didn't give the correct impression of the size of these desktops side-by-side, but that has been corrected.

Cosmetically, I'm starting to love the look of these sleek black HP desktops. Get a black desktop and a black HP LCD monitor and you're ready to go! HP is a pretty well-trusted brand, imo. I've had a model since 2001 and it's still.. running okay. Still!

I picked up the Slimline s3120n from Circuit City online two weeks ago and am wonderfully pleased.

The s3120n almost addresses (almost) every concern I had with the s3020n (which I've almost bought twice now). Now I just need it to be available in Canada. :D Anyone have suggestions on a half-height pci or pci-e card that would work in this puppy?

It's funny how they don't mention the video cards, maybe because they know that the GPU's they put in there are crap.

Yeah, I see that all the time in ads for boxes from Dell or HP or whatever. Today I saw an ad in the paper that took the time to mention the 2 GB DDR2 667 mhz RAM (how many people are going to understand all that?) but it said nothing of the GPU. I suspected the same thing you did: they probably didn't mention it because it's crappy.

HP's current Slimline models are awesome!!! Best SFF system is this! The optional 80-120GB removable media bay is kick ass too. I'd go Intel with one of these puppies.

not sure why this is "news". we've had these exact models, same model numbers and all, at the best buy i work at for almost 2 months. (except the 8120)

I picked up one of the M8120N's from Circuit City this weekend. It has some great specs, but with the nVidia 7350LE card, the Vista score was only 3.4 or something. I put in a new nVidia 8600GTS (more interested in HD video than gaming) and it now scores a healthy 5.8. For $1100, the HP is a very nice package.
