We Americans have
seen TiVo go just about
everywhere, but thanks to a newfound partnership between PacificNet iMobile and
TiVo Greater China, the timeshifting icon is headed overseas. Under the deal, PacificNet iMobile will promote and distribute TGC products in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, as well as other major cities in China, and it will reportedly "expand its marketing channel from online sales to user trial activities." Sadly, no details regarding hardware specifications, rollout dates, or pricing were mentioned, but it was noted that "Phase 1" would cover five "major" cities, while we'd expect the more distant regions to get serviced shortly thereafter.

How about... no. Sorry, here in China I'd rather not use TiVo because the service fee will most likely be too expensive. Also, there's no HD yet here- that Series3 box won't be quite the same. It will be good for something, though- grabbing Densha Otoko and Initial D dubbed in Chinese (both show at the most inconvenient times for me and they always show on some small regional station).

Nathan - TiVo has been supported in Canada for a long time now, since September 2005! http://www.tivolovers.com/2005/09/18/tivo-is-now-officially-available-in-canada-kind-of/ The don't have a retail presence, but there are resellers in Canada - such as ThePVRSource.com and PVRCanada.com. And a number of US resellers, like WeaKnees.com, ship to Canada
As for the box in China - it is probably the one they already sell in Taiwan and China: http://www.tivolovers.com/2006/01/07/photos-of-the-tgc-taiwan-system/
Functionally it kind of slots between the Series2 and the Series2DT. It has the on-board Ethernet, but only a single tuner.
