sounds cheaper? the prada is like $750-$800.
I prefer the pradas sexier smaller form factor
but iphone has the sweet web surfing capabilities
form vs. function i guess
Is anyone else sick of the freaking iphone already?
The creepy guy telling me how to use the iPhone(The commercials) was already an over kill for me, lol.
here here!
or hear hear, or however you say it.
stupit phone ._.
@Ivan
Oh, my bad. ^_^'
does anyone else think that the Prada copied Mac OS X? that looks almost exactly like the Aqua wallpaper...
Its a wallpaper! Using the same scale, i guess Leopard copied vista. Same wallpaper
well we all know for sure first day sales are way more than the iPods & iMAcs first day sales, they didn't need a service agreement to take full advantage of them.
The one thing i love about Apple products is that of all gadgets is that they keep their value over their entire life time, even when they become obsolete they become collectibles.
i don't even understand why people ever even compared the iPhone to the Razr , the Razr had the exact same software that Motos $50 phones had and its the software is like 8 years old ported from the Timeport & V60
i'll stop rambling
just like if its not an iPod its no good if its not the Iphone is a waste.
is it usable with one hand ?
Thats what the iphone mini will look like.
Just a short note of personal experience. After a friend of mine picked up his iPhone we were up and running within 10 minutes of being back at his apartment and unpacking the GUI goodness. There were no snags, no problems. We continued to play with it for several hours. It's very intuitive and very, very smooth. You move from one action to another with ease and yes the keyboard is kinda funky - for about the first five minutes. This is really an amazing device, something that I hope will influence the trend of future handhelds - granted there are a few missing pieces, but it is certainly a huge step in a different direction. Javascript and Flash will come as will other apps. The few web apps I played with this evening seemed pretty solid. And it's just damn fun to use - we literally played with it till the battery died (about seven hours). Keep in mind that includes web surfing with WiFi, watching YouTube videos, playing movies, listening to music, putting Google maps through its courses and pretty much just tapping every button over and over and over, as well as taking pics and just digging through the various options (mail, address book/contacts, settings, etc). Love it or hate it, it's here and it will have a huge impact on the way we use computing and handheld devices - over the next decade UI design will reach a new plateau and it was shown to the general consumer this evening.
Please. The only thing in Prada's favor is the size, which I really like. Even though the iPhone is bigger, it is still a great size and fits perfectly in the hand an the pocket. It doesn't hurt that nearly the entire face of the iPhone is a gorgeous 160dpi screen.
Plus, the Prada doesn't have multi-touch, a weak web browser, a weak music player, no wifi, no true sync ability, it isn't quad-band (and won't work reliably, if at all, with US GSM carriers), reportedly has horrible battery life and an unusable keypad (and no qwerty keyboard), and practically no onboard memory. Also, it lacks 3G just like the iPhone, so there's no way it can perform any better than the iPhone in that regard.
It does have expandable memory which is good, but not necessary if your phone already has 4 or 8GB onboard (...how much does 4GB microSD cost again?), and it also has video capture and A2DP support in it's favor... but that's about it.
Plus, the iPhone is really a full-fledged handheld computer that runs an updateable mobile version of OSX. Apple will push *free* software updates to the phone and can easily add features like video capture, instant messaging, JAVA support, and A2DP, among many other things. Heck, I bet it can be hacked to allow user updates or run Linux. Just give it a week or so.
The fact is, the iPhone has the Prada beat on software and features. It also has it beat on price, especially considering that the iPhone is a consumer smartphone (that can easily be upgraded to a more capable pro smartphone with software updates) and the Prada is a standard phone (i.e., not a smartphone) with a touch screen and a fashion nameplate.
the iphone is no smartphone for fux' sake... have you all been blinded?..
For 2 cutting edge pieces of technology to come out within a couple of months of each other yet have a similar look, the only possibility is coincidence or industrial espionage, because both of these designs took years to go from design to market product. neither of these products are a knock off of the other.
Never liked the LG Prada, but at least it has hardware caller reject and answer buttons!
The Prada does have Java, but it's not particularly pleasant to use Java apps.
Because of the lack of hardware buttons for navigation, the Prada overlays translucent buttons on the app on the screen. These often half cover navigation buttons and built in to the app and other on-screen content, making them really difficult to use.
Having said that, it does mean I have things like Google Maps and Opera on my Prada phone.
My own review of it is here: http://blog.domramsey.com/tech/lg-ke850-prada-phone/
Overall - it's very nice, but probably not so good if you're a heavy data user.
Sorry meant to say that was a 12 month contract, not 18 or 24.
LG is a licensee of Immersion and the Korean version of the Prada phone DOES have tactile feedback. This version is the one I'm hoping Verizon brings to North America this summer.
[May 2007
LG launched its first VibeTonz-enabled phone [to provide tactile feedback for touchscreen interactions], the acclaimed Prada phone by LG, offered in Korea by LGT and SKT]

Yo, that Prada is FIRE SON! Though I still think the iPhone a bit njcer. After looking at PC Worlds Stress Test, I'm more at east with it's durability.
Didn't Apple announce the iPhone before LG announced the Prada one? I think Apple announce the iPhone on the first day of Macworld, which was January 9th and LG/Prada announced theirs just over a week later. Let's say January 18th. LG just beat them to market since they have made a phone or two in the past. :)
This is my first time posting here, and will probably be the last, as I find the amount of anti-Apple BS here pretty pathetic. I've always found it pretty funny how people on such forums are so quick to cry out "Apple fanboy" when someone mentions their experiences with Apple products, yet are quick to defend Microsoft or any other non-Apple entity. I mean, who are the REAL fanboys here?
Take this pretty pathetic debate about if the iPhone is better than the Prada. Why is it so hard to believe that the iPhone is simply a better product, even after the FIRST HAND REPORTS posted here from people who have used both? The fact is, regardless of how much better the Prada may or may not look than the iPhone (that's certainly subjective) or how much cheaper it may appear to be (it's actually more expensive than the iPhone, but I digress), the iPhone has raised the bar for what a cell phone UI should be like, and will have a definite impact on the cell phone industry for years to come. If your anti-Apple zealotry keeps you from recognizing that, than you should be pitied. Seriously. To love something just because Apple didn't make it is just silly.
the iphone is most definately superior, not only its made by apple and its with a great phone company, the iphone wins big time, screw the prada, iphone has everything you need, a camera, ipod, map, sms texting, the internet, visual voicemail, and more!
i checked out the iphone myself and trust me, it is awesome, i couldnt get my hands of it, and another thing, it has 4GB's of memory space, then, there is also 8GB's which is doubled the space.... im mean ask your self this question, What more do you need?
all that stuff in a 3.5 inch screen, which is also the longest lasting battery life pda smart phone, and [almost forgot to mention] that its Wireless.... haha.
im tellin you the iPhone wins hands down.

i went to the apple store and played with the iphone (i am 17 and their real target market). Business professionals will hate it b/c of the lack of synchronization with corporate e-mail. text messaging was a joke their spell correction software was pointless and it's impossible to tap that correction button. if you had the ability to text in horizontal mode they would finally give the sidekick a run for it's money. the phone was the real disappointment. the person on the other end complained of static and muffled sound (i had full service on americas supposed most reliable) then the called dropped. You could not even hear with the sound as loud as it could go! speakerphone was loud, but you had to hold the phone to your mouth for the other person to hear! safari google maps and youtube are awesome add ins. who the hell uses wi-fi on a bus or during a family trip. Once again americas most reliable puts us back into the praying for aol dial up seat again. the ipod was of course phenomenal, but the headphone hole is all screwed up and i can't use my nice expensive headphones. i have a blurtooth headset i like and can't use it and i am not paying $130 for a basic headset that probably has bad audio quality like the phone and headphones apple makes. this should have been a 6th gen ipod minus the phone because the phone is horrible. I trust the prada because it's not ugly and lg makes a very nice durable phone. they also have a very strong vibrate mode and great call quality. overall their goal looked more like a next generation step into the next generation phone industry by making the ui and feel of the phone similar to what we have now not trying to jam pack the phone with as many features as the iphone which causes a loss of features. like the missing 3g and please tell me what kid will beg for this who can't send video and picture messaages. i got a nokia flip vcast phone from verizon and feature wise from a technical view is more advanced considering i get a music player with dedicated music keys, EVDO, bluetooth 2.0, 1.3 megapixel camera, picture messagin, and text messaging, and a high resolution screen and the ability to download music and videos wirelessly and sync my contacts and appointments over the air and check my e-mail and verizon is business friendly and offers apps for their phones to corporate e-mail. sorry i love apple have all apple products, yes i am an apple fanatic. i would buy the prada though if i had $600 to spend on a phone. plus i would use that on t-mobiles network even though they don't have ideaal coverage they have an amazing customer service center and cheap plans and don't try to sell you all these other services att tries to sell you whenever you call with a problem.
