The iPhone
accessories have been announced. It's a fairly limited assortment with the most interesting being Apple's new Bluetooth headset.
$129 is the price just like we heard. 5.5-hours of talk and 72-hours of standby. And yes, it includes the iPhone Dual Dock which allows you to charge the iPhone and headset in parallel. Otherwise, that dock is $49. Sorry, they don't list the headset without the dock. The iPhone Bluetooth Travel cable (pictured to the right) goes for $29 as will a pair of replacement stereo headphones. The $49
iPhone Dock (which may or not be the same one
shipping with the iPhone) also includes an audio line-out jack. Apple also unveiled the "Works with iPhone" logo. Remember, not all iPod accessories (like FM transmitters) will work with the iPhone. What do you want for $500?

Jawbone headset with noise cancellation seems better.
brendan Sheehan jnr @ Jun 29th 2007 12:57PM
Seems... what Engadget failed to mention is that the 'iPhone bluetooth travel cable' also comes in the box with the 'Apple bluetooth headset'.
John Meyer @ Jun 29th 2007 9:11AM
Thats not that bad of a deal
Tyk @ Jun 29th 2007 9:12AM
Cant you use any BT headset?
Fatima @ Jun 29th 2007 9:13AM
yea, you can.
nxs @ Jun 29th 2007 1:48PM
yes and no. I have Motorola STEREO bluetooth headphones that I purchased one year ago and it will "work" with Iphone but not in stereo - It's Iphone's hardware or software limitation.
In order for stereo to work, iphone would have to support A2DP.
Josef @ Jul 17th 2007 11:23AM
Right, any Bluetooth headset you like - in MONO, but not steroe. I've mentioned elsewhere, seems ridiculous... the BT stack on iPhone is from a company called Open Interface that trumpets their great wireless stereo - but Apple has disabled the feature.
Fatima @ Jun 29th 2007 9:12AM
ugh, so pricy. I'll just get one 8GB and skip the BT.
nac @ Jun 29th 2007 9:17AM
can the BT headset work with other phone beside of iphone ?
or can it use with mbp for iChat ??
anyone know ?
Das @ Jun 29th 2007 9:18AM
Not to be a troll exactly, but what is the justification for getting an iPhone? Be good if someone could explain it to me because to me it just looks like an expensive toy.
BoZs13 @ Jun 29th 2007 9:20AM
You, my friend, are in the wrong thread.
Xavier Gill @ Jun 29th 2007 9:33AM
whoops! Sorry bout that.
kcarr @ Jun 29th 2007 9:20AM
wait i thought that the dock came in the box that what it says on the tech specs page right
Thomas Ricker @ Jun 29th 2007 9:36AM
A dock does come with the iPhone, but there are at least two proper docks for sale (one with and one without the bluetooth headset charger).

I wonder if the Engadget Superstore in Kuala Lumpur will carry these?

FM transmitter + good mic = best driving accessories for a phone. They need to get on making a compatible iTrip asap.
emehrkay @ Jun 29th 2007 9:43AM
wait, it doesn't come with the cable to connect to the computer?
whatevs @ Jun 29th 2007 9:49AM
A cable does come with the iPhone.
shirsc2 @ Jun 29th 2007 10:05AM
The Jawbone seems like a much better Bluetooth headset than this one far. I've only heard great things about the jawbone so far:

I would love to see some reviews on the iPhone headset.
Constable Odo @ Jun 29th 2007 10:34AM
Since today is the long-awaited release of the iPhone, would Endgadget be able to update any iPhone news and details every ten minutes instead of the usual hourly update. We need to know all the latest details and maybe we could have a one minute countdown just before the doors open at 6:00 PM. That way it will seem as if we're counting down to a new millenium. Thank you.
Geoffrey Sperl @ Jun 29th 2007 11:15AM
The travel cable is slick, I'll say that. Especially if you use the BT headset with a Mac for iChat, Skype, etc.
Not that interested in the phone, but if the headset's any good I might want to check that out (not that I want a dock, so I might have to wait for eBay if it's a decent headset...).
Geoffrey Sperl @ Jun 29th 2007 11:20AM
Oh, and there's something no one mentioned: the iPhone Universal Dock Adapter 3-Pack. You can use a universal dock (and possibly an iPod Hi-Fi?), and I know I have some of those sitting around. eBay, here I come!
I.M. Yerpappy @ Jun 29th 2007 11:41AM
At least you can tell that much. It is an expensive toy. It's made for people with disposable income. Since you don't have it, no matter how it's explained to you, you'll never understand. Stick with your cheap free cellphone since it probably suits you best.
Rich @ Jun 29th 2007 12:28PM
iPhone 2 might be worth talking about if the price is right.
Just like iPods, will get better with each generation.
Ignacio @ Jun 29th 2007 1:04PM

Hell, why settle for an iPhone 2, iPhone 3 is going to be even better! ;)
Erik @ Jun 29th 2007 1:37PM
No car charger?
Obviously you can buy a cigarette lighter to USB adapter but I'm just surprised that Apple hasn't announced their own yet.
Dave T. @ Jun 29th 2007 2:51PM
exactly what I said!

If the price should ever drop on the BT, I wouldn't mind getting one. Other BT headset manufacturers should take note on the design and simplicity.
I just wonder how well the quality is... and if (like other headset) it can use with any BT enabled phone.
ntgxtreme @ Jul 2nd 2007 12:07PM
For $500, the iPhone seems like a better and better deal every second. My N95 cost roughly $750 and has various pros and cons versus the iPhone, and if I didn't need to have a phone that can travel with me I'd totally buy one just for the fun of it. Too bad revision b is releasing in Q4, with various speed and internet connectivity improvements. Perhaps I'll buy one then and at least enjoy it in the States!
