iPhone first hands-on and unboxing

I just activated, as a current customer using my current number, and Itunes said "Your activation requires additional time to complete". Has anyone else gotten this? The message says that an email will be sent once the activation completes. It has been almost 2 hours and still no email. Tried calling ATT, but they said they didn't have an answer and I should just wait. My old SIM card no longer works....... Thoughts? Similar experience?

I have a serious question about my iPhone - I am waiting for ATT to transfer my number from Verizon and activate it (it said 24 hours!) - in the meantime, is it normal before activation to say "no service" in the signal strength? I am worried our apartment is in a dead spot! We live right near the Beltway in Alexandria VA so this doesn't make sense.

By any industry (or somewhat respected source) definition, it is a smartphone.

iPhone iWant!! Basically, I want to see how the keyboard stacks up to heavy use (around 70% of time on my smartphone is spent typing).. if the keyboard stacks up, this would be one sweet gadget.

im most excited about everything on the iphone. this looks like a truly amazing device that i could only dream of ever buying or even using, but its too expensive for me or my family to even think about, let alone buy... i guess i'll never probably get to experience it for myself, until im lucky enough to run into a friend who has 1 that will b willing 2 let me use it, lol.
