I certainly hope so because that comment was sarcasm on engadget's part because basically noone finds coding sexy which is what they're getting at. Please don't confuse sarcasm with racism.
Personal success is not necessary a generic thing. But popularity in the family does play in favor if the donor can be considered (or considers the kid) as family.
