HTC Omni revealed with GPS and VGA/TV-out?
Well don't that look nice? Meet the supposed HTC Omni communicator... rendering. Unwired View is the source of these pictures and some more detailed specs. Notably, it'll be sporting VGA and TV-outputs along with that biggie 4-inch, 800 x 480 pixel WVGA display when launched in October. You know, if true. It'll also be packing a GPS/A-GPS nugget in a 130 x 81 x 16-mm slab making it a bit smaller than an Advantage but bigger than the phone-that-shall-not-be-named. Hey, that's what they're saying. Rounding things out are UMTS/HSDPA and WinMo 6 like we heard before. Though honestly, we never tire of hearing it.

This information is good to know. I would feel bad if I spent $1000.00 on a nokia e90 and then just a few months later this thing comes out with much better specs and hopefully a hdd or flash storage. I hope the 4" screen is wrong though, as I have the htc universal and at 3.6" the screen makes it HUGE. Maybe the pants industry can keep up by making pants with bigger pockets... or not. Only a suggestion. Wonder what the price will be.

Its like a Sony MyLo for grown-ups.

Do Engadget posters preview their entries? The second- and third-from-last sentences are gibberish.

our = out, then it all makes sense.
There are a few typos here - normally things like this that seem spellchecker generated (or auto-pilot typing). But, ultimately, not that hard to work out.
Square @ Jul 4th 2007 9:06AM
our = out?
"Round things our" = "Round things out"? naah.. "Rounding things out"?
Still confused. May be I need a lesson in English or Thomas will correct this post.

Why the hell would anybody buy a bloody iphone when you could get one of these - more attractive - more powerful - more productive, and best of all you wont have to use that all show and no go macos that is crippling some fairly nice hardware on teh iphone!
noi$ia @ Jul 4th 2007 8:15AM
because for lots of people his steveness is godlike?!
kai @ Jul 4th 2007 12:07PM
because the iphone exists?

I hope the red thing over the keyboard is a track-point.
Murfo @ Jul 4th 2007 8:10AM
Wow, the first stylish HTC! Looks way better than my 9100.
But whyyyyyyy didn't they just made a slide-keyboard?
louder @ Jul 4th 2007 8:18AM
it has crappy WM6. it's the only reason couse i will not buy it
Square @ Jul 4th 2007 9:21AM
I wouldn't call WM6 crappy. But I would not buy it for the same reason nonetheless.
jdschuitemaker @ Jul 4th 2007 8:44AM
Hmm, why is it that it doesn't take many post before someone starts bashing any windows flavor that does exist?
jilie @ Jul 4th 2007 9:38AM
WM6 at least has lot, but really lot more featuires then an Iphobic
Uri @ Jul 4th 2007 9:41AM
*sigh*
HTC needs a better marketing department.
I saw a roadmap a month ago that completely omitted the Omni.
(cant vouch for the authenticity- it was on a rather scrappy pdf)
seems someone wants to be a 2nd iphony company- and keep (not only the competition but also) the clients confused...
seems a lovely device though.
Take a look at the sized:

Steve Paine @ Jul 4th 2007 11:51AM
looks like the I-Mate Ultimate and Sharp EM-One have competition.
Shame that its WM6. Windows XP and a real browser for the full internet experience would have been better. Maybe next year when the Menlow and Mobile-ITX platforms hit the market.
Does opera 9 for WM6 work well on 800x480 screens?
I'll keep my order for the Raon Everun I think.

Waaaaaaaant.
First I was thinking the Advantage, but then saw the delicious sexiness of the 7150.... but lacking GPS! If it's got front and rear cams, this thing is so my next device.
Robotochan @ Jul 4th 2007 12:45PM
I would like to make love to this device...
jsanders4484 @ Jul 4th 2007 2:32PM
Robosexuals...oi. Just remember to wear protection, or it might be a shocking experience to say the least.
Anywho...I wish they would crank something out like this for us poor pathetic CDMA bums. I mean the Mogul's great and all, but c'mon...we need bigger/better/faster.
saq @ Jul 4th 2007 4:31PM
I really like what I see here. 16mm aint too shabby!
Gero @ Jul 11th 2007 2:31PM
I´ll hope it will come with at least a 3.2 megapixel camera.
|Mike @ Jul 18th 2007 12:36AM
So, when do we hear who will be stocking it (and under what name) in the UK?
